Here again...
I've got gear oil pouring out of my drums and the hub moving back and forth about an inch each direction. My expert opinion is something needs to be done about this!! I'm wondering who (besides SOR) sells a rebuild kit, bearings and all for a rear full float. I hope this hasn't been covered- a searched revealed very little.

thanks,
David

Hi David,
kurt at cruiseroutfitters.com and Marv at sor.com both have what you need. very easy job...

best,
Jan

David,

Your rear bearings may be shot or the adjuster nut may be loose. In either case the parts are available from the dealer.

Bearings are the same as Landcruiser/Toyota 4x4 front axle bearings, but first check if yours indeed do need replacement as you can save some coin there. The front hub seal can be used as well if it comes in a bearing kit but the correct part is 90311-62001, an FZJ80 part that's usually stocked at a local dealer. $12.

The axle seal is unique for the FF rear axle 90310-35001 but it is another FZJ80 part so you should be able to find it at the dealer too. $3.

The hub outer seal is 90313-93001, likely a special order to the Ontario (Calif.) warehouse, but you are welcome to borrow some until your dealer can get them. $17.

You also will need (2) axle to hub gaskets 43422-60010. $0.75.

Get all the parts from cruiserdan and get 25% TLCA or mudder discount ;)

Thank you very much for the info. At first I was a bit distraught, but now I really look forward to the rebuild. It will help me gain confidence before I do the front axle. I went ahead and ordered a kit from Kurt- figure in the long run I'd like to know that it was all new parts in my rear axle. Now to gather the necessary tools and got to it!

I know I'm highjacking the thread and this may be a bit off a noobie question, but what the difference between FF and a non FF?

Nice timely post! I'm in the process of converting my full floaters for use in a 40 series and while I'm in there, it makes sense to buy the rebuild kits. Gracias.

Oh, Eric. Lots. For starters, there is no removable inspection cover on a full floater. One less place to leak. But the major difference is that the rear is very similar in construction as the front axle hubs. There is a spindle that the hub rides on instead of the axle shaft taking all the weight/load. The full float is supposed to be more of a heavy duty unit as the drive axle only carries rotational torque and not rotational torque and shear as in a semifloat. The best part about full floaters in the toyota locker options though. Semi-floats are limited to ARB and lockright type devices, but toyota full floats can use locker third members out of an 80 series or a toyota cable locker.
