Hi,

Does anyone know where I can find a discounted illuminated rear fog light switch (84160-60070)?

P.S. I already have the non-illuminated front switch, so I'm good there!

Thanks

im not sure what you mean by "rear". but if you do a search for OEM fog light witch you can find one. if it has electrical hookups, you dont have to connect the wire for illumination.

I'll bite...
Why do you have rear fog lights?
What are rear fog lights for, do you drive in reverse for long periods?

I can only imagine it's something similar to a Volvo I worked on where the rear fog illuminated the brake filament on the driver's side taillight? But never heard of rear fog before or since. Is this an EU spec cruiser?

The switch has a rear fog light label instead of a front fog light label.

I want it illuminated because I plan to hook it up to my rear chase bar, and I sometimes forget to turn it off. The illumination will help my poor memory lol

Compulsory in UK & Europe.
About as bright as brake lights. Used when foggy to warn drivers behind you.
A pain in the butt when they are left on during normal weather conditions.

I used these:
I saw this one, but I want a rear fog light instead of a front one, and a horizontal layout instead of vertical.
Sorry for being so picky haha.

This is the International Language Rear Fog / Auxiliary lamps logo icon , note how the light-rays point straight out , Not downward to the ground / flat roar surface in front of the vehicle ....

- below is a OEM Toyota 4wd Vehicle Platform & OEM KOITo Lamps / Parts correctly installed by the FSM technical image example of the above in summery .......

- These AUX Lamps point straight out in a 180" 8000K lumen spectrum .....

.
this is the OEM Toyota Rear FOG / AUX Logo vertical rocker switch i chose to use in my switch panel for this Auxiliary lighting set-up i use for backing up anywhere after dark , and also loading up or removing contents from the rear bed as well ,

- i can't say enough how helpful they are and one of the best dam time and resources applied to any Toyota vehicle i have ever owned in my entire life , GHOST my 5/89 FJ62LG-PNEK is next up for this , i may use these same OEM KOITo All composite housings / polycarbonate krystal-klear lenses again , or another more rectangle Composite Body / Glass Lens OEM KOITo uniquely different set up because i have both KRystal Klear and Pure JDM / JIS Yellow lens options to choose from

this is going to sound horribly pedantic...And I f'n hate internet lawyers...but it would also suck if you got a ticket.

In the USA white light pointed to the rear isn't DOT legal unless it is only triggered by the selection of reverse gear. Better use the amber covers.

the OEM Koito Polycarbonate lenses do have the DOT code alpha-numeric info on them ...

I have a few of these nos 84160- ‘s ,

I have updated & applied my routine Kustom KOITo LED color temperature diode / high quality aftermarket bulb format to them …

This is not a -60070 note my device side male connector housing …

However the main switch box assy. & all color coded tracer stripe wires are exactly the same as the -60070 …

I will post some pics of the amber globe illuminated later this evening so the cross comparison why factor in this TECH. discussion can be visually shown and help lend “ lumens “ as to why I take this now 💯 % of all OEM Toyota interior and exterior incandescent filament glass traditional oem toyota bulbs out of the equation on day 1 on all new or NOS anything Toyota Genuine parts and beyond , there is more to this then simply a higher lumen factor or color temperature tone change …..

Matt

Yeah, something like that. A more typical install uses just one rear red fog light. IIRC, on the Continent where they drive on the right side of the road, the single lamp will be on the left side of the vehicle's rear. This provides some degree of orientation so overtaking vehicles will pass on the left, versusd slewing around to the right (a really bad idea in the fog.)
In the UK, to compensate for their odd habit of driving on the left, the rear fog light is located on the right rear of the vehicle, encouraging overtaking vehicles to pass on the right.

For a vehicle like a Land Cruiser that gets around internationally more than most, a dual lamp configuration makes some sense, so I'm guessing that's what we're seeing here. If it was my truck, I'd wire in a switch that allows the proper side fog light to llluminate according to whose road system orientation is being used.

My old Volvo 850 turbo wagon had a rear fog light (looks like one brake light is on) and I thought it was a great idea. Reading this thread makes me want to add one to my cruiser as well.

was there ever a variation of any 80 series rear 3 bulbs / 3 color lenses combination lamps , that has a 4th bulb feature and or a 4th stand alone inner chamber for that 4th bulb as opposed to the 4th bulb sharing the RED lenses bulb chamber with the brake / parking dual filament bulb also ?

if so ?

this 4th additional bulb is falls under the Rear Fog option on the microfiche , same as a 4# , 5# and a few ulta rare early 6# series prior to them having a stand alone red lenses rear fog lamp also ....
below is a Finland Market Spec. HJ60 :

I suspect fog lights integrated into the standard lighting eventually ran afoul of tighter regulations. While a all-in-one solution looks cleaner in terms of style and would be likely cheaper to manufacture, when overtaking such a vehicle in the fog it will not give you the depth perception that a separate lamp mounted apart from the tail lighting will.
