posting this here because i thought i saw a pic of a similar thing on the 80's as my 40's ff axle.

the bearing retaining nut thing, has 3 holes, used to tighten down your wheel bearings... what do you guys use. i was told a screwdriver, but couldn't get it to work
 
The correct Toyota SST (Special Service Tool) is an 09509-25011 I'm sure you would be able to source one down there.

Whats the damage on one of these Dan? I was going to make one some time ago but never got around to it (used a borrowed SST). I just called the Toyota dealership here and they said bad number...
 
I use the LandToyFFaxleSST#2
I made mine. My first too failed. The second was great.
Drilling the pulley was the hardest. That is some tought steel.
The second (lower pic) was made from a chevy 350 smog pump pulley. ( I knew that smog pump was good for something)
I need to get some harder grade bolts as they do bend a bit.

OH, the cost, $750. Thats what I paid for Junky truck #2

man, you gotta make up your mind... 3 or 4 bolts?

4 would be best but it took so long drilling (it made a real high pitch nasty noise) that I chose 3. 3 is beter.
I need to have the bolt that I turn the pulley with welded as it gets loose and slips.
 
I don't remember what I paid cdan, I'm in El Paso today and can't check. I think around $50 - $60. I do remember it was going to cost me more in time and materials to cut, mill, weld, and finish it at the machine shop I moonlight at, and it wouldn't have been as nice. Well, it could've, but would've gotten pretty expensive to cut out the square-drive, and harden and chrome the whole thing. If I'd just slapped something together I suspect it would end up costing me in frustration, after I'd invested some time in making it.
