I got rear ended a couple of days ago and subsequently got pushed into the car in front of me. My front TJM bumper didn't have a scratch on it, but my rear Trail Gear tube bumper is pretty warped and the frame end horns are a tiny bit bent, but just on the bottom where the bumper bracket bent them down. The truck drives fine, but I will be needing a new bumper and will probably just have the tailgate dent popped back out so the window will roll down again. I am not sure how much I will be getting from the woman's insurance, so not sure what will be in my price range for the new bumper. I have been looking for rear bumpers with a swing-out tire carrier. Does anyone have a recommendation for one? Looks like there aren't too many options out there for a 1st gen. Pappy, what bumper are you running? I didn't mind the trail gear bumper, but it wasn't designed the best and never sat right on the back of the truck, always looked a little off. Glad I had a durable bumper though, I think that had I had a stock bumper the damage would have been much worse, the woman's car was pretty messed up.

You can't get mine any more. It was made by Stout Equipment. I agree, choices other than tube bumpers are rare for our trucks.

I thought that might have been where you got yours. I guess I will just have to go with another tube bumper, although options are limited for them as well.

I tell you what, I too have a rear tire swing out and often wonder what would happen if another SUV or a pickup truck rear ended me. The spare will go through the upper tailgate while damaging the lower tailgate. :bang:

Ali, I never thought about that scenario. Still not sure what I am going to end up with as a replacement. Not in a huge rush, so I have some time to do my homework. Don't want to go with the Trail-Gear bumper again if I can avoid it.
