Question on my new rear calipers. I just bought a Diamond FF axle package with the 4runner discs and internal e-brakes. The 4runner brakes are from a 2007 and the calipers are only one piston, is this normal and is it enough for my 55 loaded with gear. I have 4runner front discs and they're two piston calipers.

Thanks Guys!
Ron

One piston will be fine.

Biggest question is balance. Are the front runner brakes from the same 2007 vintage brakes? Anything new will be a huge upgrade over your stock 55 stuff.

Thanks Mace, no the fronts are from a 95 4runner, it's an FJ60 axle. I had a semi float 60 rear axle and wanted to go FF with the discs and e-brake. I didn't think to ask about years, so now the 2007 has a banjo fitting instead of a flare fitting and e-brake cables are totally different. Trying to work through the little stuff.

The 2007 stuff may actually need a proportioning valve due to too much braking..

But till you run it, it'll be hard to tell honestly.

I do have the proportioning valve already plumbed in. So, you think I should go with it and not try to change the rear disc out to something else.

I wouldn't before I gave it a try. I'd be astounded if it was not enough.

Thanks Man, now to figure out the e brake cables. This one heck of a housing with RVC shafts, etc. should be more than stout for me.

Diamond makes great stuff!

I've got the 95 4runner/60 setup on the front and the monte carlo setup on the rear of my 40 and at 5500lbs (unloaded) I've had zero issue bringing it to stop (can actually lock up all 4 wheels, but I'm also running hydro boost). You should have no problem getting yours to stop with your setup. Like Mace said, I proportioning valve will be your friend here to get things stopping right.

Thanks for responding, I'll go with the 4runner brakes and see how it feels. I was unsure since the calipers have just one piston and I'm carrying a whole lot of camping stuff.

That's cool, I'm feeling better about this with all the positive feed back.

Thanks!
