I'm in the process of fabricating a custom bumper mount for my 1962 FJ40 and noticed that a PO had tweaked the center out a bit (Probably trying to pull something ge shouldn't of). I would like to make it as flat as possible. Wear would be the best way to straighten this? Remove the channel piece is not practical since it's riveted.

I would cut flatten then reweld it. Probably will improve but never going to get back to zero deformation. I tried for hours to flatten mine. In the end, cut tossed in trash and replaced with new. Luckily I was tearing down anyway.

I had the same issue with my '73. I tried moving it myself without any luck. In the end, I took it to a shop the specializes in chassis straightening. $50 and less than an hour and it was straight again. They have the tools to do the job without any cutting.
