In a hurry my friend? Well I'll tell you that I spent some time with Jim the other night and progress is being made. I changed my mind on the jerry can holder and wasted a bunch of Jim's time. The good news is that that's resolved and mounted. Jim just needs to do some welding on the spare mount, capping some parts, some grinding and the hi-lift mount. :D

Oh yeah, then the side wraps and painting and stuff and it'll be done. Another wait but it'll be worth it.

I assure you that you will lust for it even more when you see the finished product

what he said :D

we are very close to being done, got some 80 series slider mounts to do this week and will get time in on the bumper also.

ya know chris, awwwww never mind ;)

Wow, I just spent almost an hour reading all 166 previous posts. I laughed, I cried, I was hoping to come to a neat and tidy conclusion with weights and prices, but alas, that is not to be. Oh well, bumper is looking awesome, hope you don't mind if I pilage a few ideas for my own creation. Looking forward to hearing some reviews once this thing has been installed and wheeled with a few times. Also can't wait to get the final figures on price and weight. Any ideas on closing the whole thing in to keep all mud/water etc... out? Or to use it as a water resi?

Q:Any ideas on closing the whole thing in to keep all mud/water etc... out?

we are closing up about 6-8" of the ends, access to mounting bolts keep it from being totally inclosed,so does the cross member as it sucks up into the bumper.

the bumper itself has to be at least 80 lbs
tire carrier and swing arm are near the 60 lb mark

i understand the concern about how long its taken, but chris knows my situation and has been totally supportive.

thanxall

jim

Not really, this thread is kind of like crack for me...I gotta have more man!

I am eager to spend money on my rig in ways that I see as productive, and a nice new bumper/tire carrier setup is productive in my mind.

keep up the good work guys!

ok,ok,ok!

we started this build on a saturday, and i'll try to have it done this saturday.
i'm not promising anything, but chances are good that it can be done.

i've got some 80 series slider parts to get ready for assembly(almost done with them anyway) so we shall see ;)

thanx
jim

You didn't mention anything about this to me this morning, planning on suprising me?

I like the idea of having a bumper again! :D

You know that 54mm socket I borrowed this morning? Didn't need it on the drivers side knuckle - the nuts weren't even hand tight!

Yeah, everything was there but loose - thinking maybe I found the source of my vibration.

I agree, there's not that much to do so should I plan on coming by Saturday? I'll give you time to get it sandblasted - I'm out of town next week and will be playing in the sand too. ;)

Done? Me?

Got the left side almost done. Just have to add the new caliper, rotor, pads and button it up. Then on to the right side and see if there are any surprises there.

Should be done by Thursday ;)
