Just received mine today. I'm very impressed with the build quality of this mount. It's far more robust than the FireStik mount I was originally going to mount.

Here are some pics of it installed:

Looks good Big Sean!!! Thanks for the post

I'm trying to figure out an antenna mount bracket like this for my 100. You should make a second version with slightly different mounting bolt holes to fit the hatch on the 100.

I need a Hundy to look at and measure. PM me some pics of the rear hatch bolts. No promises just curious.
Thanks,
Frank

".....Considering cutting open the white x out on the attached picture so that I can mount them on the out side of the alignment rubber bracket. Or maby cutting the new bracket and welding it to the existing hatch alignment bracket. Any thoughts?"

Cutting out that X-section is interesting idea; it would still serve the intended purpose of the mount, but would have little/no impact moving the factory hardware further inward (and impacting the hatch).

Haven't had a chance to install them but have been messing with them.

Maybe something like this?

:D
Or maybe this?

shakotankei you are quick. You didn't even give me time to be the first to debut the back up lights idea

Check them out installed and tell me what do you guys think?

I like it! I was originally going to mount both antennas on the rear, but you guys now have me looking for a back up light:)

Cut and remount

Looked at it again, it may work, but it depends on if the hatch when closed will clear since it is pushing it out from the intended location. Only about 1/4" gap between the body and hatch so I may need to bend the bracket a bit. I'll give it a try when time permits.

Look at the photos in post number one. The folks that were part of the test group removed the catch piece and did not complain of rattle from the rear hatch. Try it out and let me know what you think.

I thought about this, but noticed that the hindges on the hatch are not too solid and the rubber on the hatch alignment are pretty worn, which made me think the hatch could move and rattle a lot on say a washboard road. May still try to cut out the portion I mentioned and bend it a bit. Time will tell, when I find it.

Like the light mount idea, how did you wire it up, spliced through the back up or idependant with a relay and switch? That is exactly what I was thinking of. I had one (old dick cepec flood) on my old fj40 and loved it when backing up. freeked people out at night on the street though.

I also have to say your Black 80 is very clean with great paint, don't think I could get mine back now after all the cactus scratch and buffs.

Frank, your truck looks awesome....is that the original paint?

Also, I think landcruising and his "X" may be an interesting mod for your next production run - wondering whether/what you thought about it......(?)

I have to take credit for the black Lexus (My baby). Frank being my neighbor and creating outstanding ideas, I'm lucky to be one of the first to buy his goodies. As you can see, my rear bumper already has antenna mounts. So Frank mounted the rear LED lights. Great for camping and since my windows are super dark, it will be nice to engage when I back up.

If you have have a chance, you MUST check out his drawer system!!! Hands down the best drawer set up you will see out there. I hope Frank post some pictures of his drawers. For the price and what you get, absolutely amazing.

Rick

Frank, I sent you a PM about the mounts. I was a little late replying to you PM. Do you still have any available?

Now you guys got me thinking. Maybe add some angle and ad 2 holes so you can insert the rubber piece you remove from the OEM bracket. Interesting!!!
