anybody ever take one of them digi thermos with the laser point to the radiator?

my temp gauge has never worked. it's a project that i'm working on. and i'm up to speed with all the common problems and point to look at.

hvac guy was just checking the ac vents about the office with one.
i propomtly borrowed it and ran to teh 60.
after a short drive and a long idle period my rad is temping aroung 210*F, across the top tank.
seems warm. pretty sure i have a 180*F, maybe a 190*F thermostat in it. the WP, thermo and rad are fairly fresh.
everything seem normal or am i just over analizing?

I installed a mechanical temp gauge in my truck and its the best inexpensive and easy thing you can do to monitor you trucks temp ( and oil pressure when you change it too). Once mine warms up it runs at 189 steady. When I turn the truck off it will go up to about 200 and then start comming down. I would guess that the outside of the rad would be warmer than the coolant flowing through it but I might have that backwards. Install a mechanical gauge(50$) and stop worring about it.
