Media Random 70 series pic thread (2 Viewers)

Have been in Spain for the past week, saw only a few 70 series. One BJ70 (didn’t get a pic), some Prados.

But today I drove over to Gibraltar… of course I went to TGS - Gibraltar is really small so it’s not out of the way. It’s a warehouse but I did see a 79 DC driving out.

Later in the day I went back and chanced upon a very nice man who said he would have gladly shown me around the workshop but it shut at 3:00 pm :-(
Anyways, it was a nice encounter and I have a good idea of how the facility looks!

It seems that someone felt that it was unfair from Toyota to drop the soft-top troopy from the 40 series to the 70 series, and so decided to fix it x)

I doubt very seriously that Toyota Racing Development had anything to do with that vehicle's modifications.

A soft top 70 Series Troopy, like the FJ45L, would look great.

I guess Toyota decided that the 75 / 79 Series pickup/Ute with soft top compensates. Too bad.

Anyway, a beautiful 70-Series, still to have it (brand new) in Germany for some 50,000 euros (the same for Belgium or the Netherlands)...

EU legislation evolved and now any vehicle permanently registered in a EU country should be transferable/registerable in any other EU country, without a COC.
EU laws need to be applied in every country law so it can takes some time to be fully in application everywhere but at least in France it already passed in the law since September 1st 2023 (https://www.nouvelle-aquitaine.deve...-importes-un-nouveau-dispositif-d-a14621.html).

So those grey import vehicles should be able to move inside the EU a lot easier, this should lead to a price harmonization (and also new import channel if a specific country is found easier on import criterias).

Still as discussed in another thread, I call bull**** on the 50k€ price announced by Tom's... It's probably 10 years they haven't updated this page and/or it does not account for homologation/registration/other-fees but I saw no one recently in Europe that got a new 70 series on the road for less than 70k€ (and often more 80k€ if well optioned).

One can see today in the mobile.de ads like this: a TOYOTA dealership in Germany (No affiliation!) offers the whole range of 70-Series, even l'oiseau rare GRJ71, for prices slightly above that sum (the GRJ71 for 49,990).
This GRJ76 is the basic model, but still equipped with modern goodies like ABS/ESP, A/C ("Klima"):

I am asking this because a 70 Series from the Middle East is likely to be more expensive than a 70 Series for Japan. The sale price for the former includes duty and local taxes, plus the dealer's margin. The sale price of the latter does not include these charges.

Import to the EU adds taxes and margins. This detail can duplicate, or even triplicate, the price ex-factory.

You can ask them though, they do speak English.

What I can say is that this is unusual to find the 70-Series at a Toyota dealership, let alone the whole range of them. This is usually the business of the so called "grey-importers" in Germany, if not in Europe...
