Saw a (rare) Troopy in Germany yesterday, in Telgte out of all places... A respray but it looked really good in that blue!

Nice.
Your profile says you are from Canada 🇨🇦.
What took you to Telgte in Germany? Not a typical tourist destination (although well worth a visit).
(I know Telgte quite well. I was born an hour west)
Cheers Ralf

"Out of all places", perhaps, but quite famous as a place of pilgrimage...

PS. It seems that pilgrims use the right vehicle to get there...

Hello,

Found online in an article about the war in Ukraine. Ukrainian Army 79 Series.

Land Cruiser 79 - HZJ79 ZSU 142de2876e252513e7f7e15a6b2c2cc2.jpg

It looks like they took the idea from African and Middle Eastern conflicts.

And instead of doing this in the US armed forces we're rolling out trucks from BAE and OshKosh :bang:

Hello,

Very true. What a waste.

40 mm and 57 mm antiaircraft guns make deadly close support weapons, especially in urban fighting. Put one in a 70 Series truck and you have a high mobility weapon with a heavy punch.

It is good to know that the Ukrainians are using this application.

Hello,

Another thing.

It should be possible to mount one of those guns in a Humvee.

I doubt it is possible on a Jeep Gladiator, though...

This is where the 70-Series shows its true strength as a heavy duty vehicle. There are lots of pickups out there that are a similar size, but few to none would be able to carry the payload or take the stresses of a gun like that.

Sure they do Juan!
However, these guns look more like the lighter ex-Soviet 23 m.m. ZU-23-2 Shilka to me:
