I like the burnt mud disguise idea, there's lots of it to remove just to work on it already

Gotta give 4wu credit here, too. The entire axle end is their minitruck style brackets on my home brew axle abortion

Commence grinding forever... Why the FAWK didn't I wash this thing prior to destruction(that's all mud from my Shasta area)????

Those are 6" (5sofrm)slee coils for sale in the background, hint, hint$225 shipped, 1700 street miles since new:)

Looking good. Can't wait to see the finished product....so I can copy your work someday. Ha. SUBSCRIBED>.

There are some ghetto fixes and less-than-pretty welds underneath my 80 because of the discomfort and pain associated with grinding/welding and doing the job right when it's upside-down. Hope you wore sunscreen

Lol, wet beach towel covering front axle from plasma and grinding. I'm finished. Time to mockup coilovers towers(and notch driver side for steering shaft)

But first I have to turn the bathtub black...

Looks like you are following rule #1 stay well hydrated.

Looks like it cleaned up well. I had forgotten how much I hated grinding till I cut the brackets off a FF 80 rear axle for my brother HJ60....gross.

I had a bet I could drive this thing home from work Thursday and back on Monday with a new suspension.

BUT, Slee sent me two rear brake lines and one front(wtf?) and I'm contemplating ditching the factory panhard bracket for cosmetic reasons (and I cut half of it off to clear on up travel)...

The driver side shock tower needs MAJOR surgery to clear the steering shaft and I haven't finished my new tranny mount.

More beer, less typing!!

Progress was slow in the recent temperatures, but the only hurdle is the steering shaft/shock tower relationship and my own choice of lower link length conflicts with the bolt area of the tranny crossmember. Otherwise, the 80 ---> 3link w coilovers is pretty straight forward on our trucks.

Dude...

That metal work notch for the steering shaft is a work of art.

Nice job, it's awesome to finally see guys doing stuff like this to 80's....

Thanks! I did have to shuffle the abs junk on that side by a couple inches and I ditched the awesome factory air cleaner for a bit til I make some new mounting points for it(autozone ricer type filter temporarily).
