Looks like my radiator is starting to leak, 2004 119K miles. I am looking at replacing with a Denso model, are these OEM? or are there better options.
Thanks

Denso is OEM. I replaced mine with Denso. I couldnt find a trustworthy, quality drop in model that had metal end tanks.

I'm going to put a new Denso in mine later this winter as preventative maintenance. They are only ~$120 on RockAuto. 15+ years out of a $120 OEM part is actually a pretty good lifespan IMO.

Koyorad makes a fully-welded aluminum radiator for $450, but it lacks an internal AT cooler. You can of course install an external cooler but then your AT won't be warmed up by the engine during cold weather, which is a concern for me as my GX sees quite a bit of snow use in the winter.

Go with the Denso. Perfect fit.

Ditto @Nailhead, the dreaded OE failure has hit me too.

Thanks @cr4west I'll source Denso too.

Currently (summer 2022 inflated pricing) DEN 2213125 @ NAPA is $450, CarQuest $422, and Rock Auto $206.

My brother installed a replacement Denso (from Rock Auto) in his GX and the top aluminum strap across the radiator promptly broke in the middle. He compared it to the OEM Toyota and it was much thinner and less beefy. One of the few time we have felt let down by Denso replacement parts.

Wow, when was this?

It's been over 5 years and over 50k miles since I replaced mine with the Denso radiator and so far it's been trouble free.

I wonder if quality went down recently or just a bad one.

I purchased a denso unit for my 100 from amazon and it came in cracked. I did not notice until install last week. Unfortunately this was in 2020 when I purchased so I had no warranty. When comparing to stock, it was a little smaller looking though 99% similar. Instead of ordering from amazon again, I ordered from parts geek. It was more expensive but I figured it might be a higher quality oem denso piece. When I received the new radiator, it was packed differently (better) and had a slightly different denso sticker. So while there is likely some thinning of materials over the past twenty years, there are also different quality oem radiators out there. An example that was visually apparent was the nipples for the trans cooler, the newer ones were brass like oem with security paint on the bolts while the amazon was aluminum nipples with no paint markings. I had read there is a Mexican spec radiator. Perhaps the amazon is Mexi spec. In addition to the radiator, order some 1.5 inch by 1.5 inch foam Rubber window gasket with adhesive. Its nearly the same size as stock and very easy to stick on before install. Remember open cell foam rubber, (black) not foam (gray).

Oh…let’s just say that there’s a lot of fakes on amazon nowadays.

I no longer buy car parts on Amazon. two Years ago, I purchased denso O2 sensors on amazon and they arrived in sandwich bags with a home printed denso label.

I returned immediately and re-ordered from Rock Auto…these were packaged correctly in Denso boxes and the sensors themselves said Denso printed on the part.

Now I buy new parts on Rock Auto, Lexuspartsnow.com, partsouq.com, or other web sites that send parts from Toyota or Lexus dealers directly.

My brother got this iffy Denso radiator approx 2-3 years ago. I saw his old OEM radiator and the Denso, and the Denso was clearly made less stoutly and expensively.

I'm all done with Amazon car parts, too. I wonder if my 4Runner ball joints were actually OEM Toyota or not - given all the fake 'OEM' Toyota parts sold now. Some of the boxes in which the fake parts are sold are very good clones of OEM parts boxes.

Definitely not saying the part was a clone, it was definitely a denso part, just prob a different factory or value spec. the shipping and cracking was due to Amazon

Looks like an OEM Toyota radiator is only $169 from my local dealer (V8 4Runner version but undoubtedly exactly the same). At that price, a Denso makes a lot less sense when it's more expensive than a true Yota radiator.

Without going full aluminum, Denso seems to be the consensus here, so I pulled the trigger. I think I did run across and appreciate your comment stating this RE: Denso, but I leaned with the numbers and hope it's a good replacement, considering inflationary co$t and aftermarket but OEM, if not OE. 230K was good for stock, so I hope to get many tens of thousands if not hundreds on this one too... 🤞🤷‍♂️

well that's a bummer...
AAAND I just put together lexuspartsnow and partsouq orders, but stupidly forgot about the radiator when filling those shopping carts.
😫😤

**EDIT**
LPN is $400 down from $600, but different part numbers from the 4R to the GX:

I hate when that happens!

And I’ve noticed sometimes prices are cheaper at lexuspartsnow and sometimes at partsquo but not always.

You gotta keep checking to find a good price

Remember lexuspartsnow is a broker site and not a brick and mortar so you WILL be sol when you have an issue. I would recommend against them or any of their partner sites. Zero customer service available. Support your local mud members.

Now I'm super confused. Many but not all aftermarket radiators for the GX470 and T4R both have the sane part number and look like the OEM GX470 radiator. But the OEM T4R radiator picture is different than the GX radiator.

I use 'mylparts.com' - appears to just be a dealer, but has good parts diagrams and has treated me well as far as shipping.

Sometimes the pictures are bad or not actual part.

If the oem part numbers are the same, then it should be the same part.

However, I have no inside info as to whether a 4R radiator fits or not. I usually just go by part numbers
