On my quest to get my 3/76 FJ40 with a 78 2F engine awakened and running to see if the engine is any good, I have been looking through my Toyota 2F engine book and Body / Chassis book and cannot find any exploded drawings showing how the radiator mounts to the support frame, how the support frame mounts to the chassis, how the support frame is supported by the side rods, nor where / how the overflow tank is mounted in the engine compartment. Anyone have a copy of those exploded drawings they can share, or steer me toward what book shows this, or has photos of a 76 or 78 FJ40 showing this area with all the parts mounted so I can get an idea of where it all goes? My FJ40 did not come with these parts so I am flying blind so to speak on how to put this all together. Thanks for the help!!

You have two welded bolts on the bottom of your radiator support. They go into these holes circled in red. Then one diagonal rod is longer than the other. They mount to the threaded holes this side of the shock towers.

Thanks for the picture. That explains why it wasn't clear how to mount the radiator support frame. A previous owner eliminated my frame mount tabs I guess when they put in a GM motor before the last owner replaced it with a 78 2F engine. So I guess I will need to fabricate some new mounts. Anyone happen to have any dimensional data on the size of these, how far they extend out from the front frame rail, and the size of the mounting hole to drill?

So it turns out I can get a used front cross brace with the radiator mounts. So is it easier to weld new mounts onto the cross frame I have now, or drill out the frame rivets and change out the front cross member with a used one with the mounts? The rivets are still available, so I would just need to rent a torch setup to heat them up, and a rivet gun to shape the head. Has anyone done either of these, and if so, how easy or difficult was it?

Anyone happen to know the dimensions of the radiator support frame mounts that come off of the front cross member? I can figure out the material thickness based on what is left on mine, and the spacing, but I don't have a source of information that shows how long they extend out from the front cross member, or the size and location of the hole in order to get an idea of where the radiator frame sits relative to the cross member of the frame. Any help getting the data needed to fabricate new mounting brackets would be greatly appreciated. A side picture of them would also be nice to see if they are tapered or not. Thanks!!

So the OEM radiator arrived, and I sourced 2 radiator mounting frame brackets from Specter Off-Road. Next step is to drill out the old rivets for what is left of my cut off mounts, and bolt on the new replacements. Any idea of what torque setting to use on this since it isn't stock? Also, does anyone know what toyota part number, or type / size of bolt to use to attach the radiator frame rods to the chassis? How about the toyota part number for the nuts that secure the support rods to the radiator frame? I can't find any documentation that specifies what the part number is to attach the support rod to the frame near the shock mounts nor the nut to attach them to the support frame. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a set of support rods that I have removed if you are interested. Have the right nuts and bolts for the frame to go along with them.
Ping me if interested..

Not to Hijack the tread, but does anyone know where I could find the fabric cushion pads that go under the radiator bracket? It's one of the last things I need for my restoration.

Awesome! Been looking all over for them, including Cruiser Corp. I guess I missed them the first 100x I looked at their site.
