OEM radiator less than a year old with about 8K on it. Leak is at the seal on the bottom. I was reading that it may be able to be resealed but would rather not go that route if its only a temp fix. My plan is to pull radiator tonight or tomorrow to get a better look. Whats the gallery think? Replace/fix/aftermarket?

Ive never attempted to repair them before but they have a radiator crimping tool or you can use vise grips to recrimp the tanks. Washer fluid cleans crusty coolant pretty well. Well it cleans the toyo coolant pretty well.

Good to know. Thanks.

If you are in a bind then FastWeld/JBWeld
No bind. I'll just have to drive the Ford everyday till its fixed. Wife stole my Jeep since her Scion got rear ended.

That's bad luck for sure mate!. Being the rad so new it's reasonable claiming its replacement under warranty-I would.
As probably you know, some guys swear by the all-aluminum Koyo...but it will cost you. It should last the rigs lifetime.
Personally, I'll keep it OEM...notwithstanding the issue with yours.
Good luck
Cheers

Get a new one free!!

If it's the OEM Toyota part, then any Toyota dealership should stand behind Toyota's 1 year, unlimited mileage parts warranty.

Now, I have seen instances where a customer will take their warranty part to the nearest Toyota dealership and get denied by the parts dept.--they will say that the "original dealership has to warranty that part." Bull****. Tell them you want to speak with the Parts Manager and if you get a negative response, tell him/her that you want to speak with the GM.

Just try to get a copy of your original invoice from the purchasing dealer.

Yeah I may look into a warranty. I don't know how that works if it was bought and inatalled 2,000 miles away. I'm now on the couch watching football so it looks like I will wait for tomorrow to pull it. Doesn't look to hard to pull since there is no shroud or fan clutch in the way. Just need to break out the baby pool to catch the fluid.

Sounds like a plan.

Beno is the man!

I pulled the radiator this morning. It wasn't hard at all and I kinda enjoyed pulling it all apart. It will also give me a reason to freshen up the black paint on the grill and headlight trim. Emailed the shop to see if they have an invoice saved for the radiator to see about a warranty. If not I guess ill take it somewhere to get it checked out.

Improvised shop light since my hood and kayak block the big light in the shop.

Impact driver and two extensions makes easy work getting the bottom bolts out of the radiator bracket.

Radiator out in about an hour taking my time labeling all the screws and bolts in bags.

Taking everything off the front end makes it a lot easier. Once you do it a couple times its easy breezy.

Cimarron:

Don't tell the Toyota people that the radiator is in a "modified" truck. (if they ask)

Hoping Jonesey/Duiser has the receipt. If not, they can call the dealer they bought it from and get a copy of it. Any dealer can do this. Records at dealers are kept for quite a long time.

FYI: Make sure it has the white "TRAD" label on the top tank if you go to return it.

Just went and checked and it has no label. I assume it should have been on the flat part next to the cap? I also looked at the LX rad that I forgot was stored away and it has faint Toyota marking in that location. Other than that the two look identical. They both have the "PA66-GF30" stamped in the top center. Don't know what that is. Can't find any other markings on either.
I don't know what condition the rad is in that came from the LX since it came with a blown HG. I may get it checked out this week as well. I have too many animals around the house to run water through it outside.

If it doesn't have TRAD on it, it ain't OEM from Toyota. All OEMS Land Cruiser rads will have the White TRAD label on it on the top tank. No exceptions.

Sorry.
No worries. Thanks for the new knowledge on how to tell the difference.

How often do undamaged TRad radiators come up being defective in the first 12 months? Any significance to the number PA66-GF30 on both radiators?

My guess it is OEM just not sold by Toyota. Rebrand maybe? Hard to tell. Maybe like Wix and Napa Gold?

Well, there are humans creating designs that then get fed into machines. These machines then create products based on human designs.

Engineering is involved and then all sorts of other things like packaging, labeling, shipping, storing, etc. are involved before the product then gets to the end consumer.

That said, "PA66-GF30" means nothing if there is no Toyota part number label on the box and concurrently there is no white TRAD sticker with the Toyota part number and the TRAD part number on the top tank.

Again, to reiterate: if that sticker is not on it, it ain't from a Toyota dealer, hence--for all intents and purposes--not OEM, thus not warrantable.
