have to admit our cruisers are getting some age on them. i have seen several threads on here since i started this one where people have overheated and ruined their engines because of blown T's or radiator problems. like you i have decided to replace the radiators in all four of my 2UZ FE vehicles. two LX 470's a GX 470 and a Tundra. ihave ordered and received an all aluminum radiator for the LX and am in the process of evaluating it now.

Did you install the all Aluminum one yet? I found the ones on ebay and they seem to have good reviews.

the aluminum radiator looks to be quality built but i don't have it installed yet. be aware that the one i purchased does not have the bottom tank atf cooler in it and also i see since i bought mine they have marked up the price considerably so i think OEM will be more cost effective. they do offer one with the atf cooler but you have to look for it

I had mine done at CBT a couple months ago at 175K miles and 19 years. There were no obvious signs it had to be done, I just wanted peace of mind for a 3K mile roadtrip. The service tech said I had made the right decision as it looked really really old once they had it out.

I'd say it does both, depending on the season. I bypassed my integrated radiator setup on a previous vehicle because they were known, for my year, to eventually fail because of a manufacturing screwup. Denso built a batch using steel washers on the transmission inlet/outlets that would eventually corrodes so bad (because they are a disimilar metal) that eventually the transmission fluid would start to mix with the coolant . The first clue you had was the orange slurpee pouring out of your overflow bottle . This was bad and meant your transmission is almost definitely ruined . I bought a 3rd party cooler and ran the lines to it leaving the radiator holes open . I took the opportunity to install a radiator temp gauge at the same time . Only downside was it took forever to warm up in the winter .

the LX470 already has a substantial air to air ATF cooler in front of the radiator. funny thing is the ATF is routed into the bottom tank before it goes to the one in front.

WELL my "OE" or "OEM" radiator ($400!) for toyotapartsdeal had a leak in the stem after i installed! It was hell getting an RMA with them (they wanted me to take it to a dealership). Then the RMA was going to take a week to ship... so i said screw it.

I ended up buy two "Denso 221-3152" Radiators on Amazon. One "Used" for $100 and one "New" for $170. I'll check the "used" one (i'll have it pressure tested) and see how she does. I'll hold the "new" unit until i can confirm it's GTG.

I have a 3K mile roadtrip in two weeks. Not much room for error here....

Wtf... Toyota Parts have a one year warranty on them. Call them and let them hear it. Spending 400 on that which does not work is robbery

They do have a warranty, and yes it was a pain because i installed it. very annoying! Getting my money back and ordered a new unit.
