Hello everybody.

I've purchased Radflo 2.5 resi shocks recently. but after installation I started experiencing nasty noise form rear suspension. I've shacked and rechecked mounting, went to suspension diagnostics. Then I rolled back to KYB shock and everything normalized - no noise.

After that I found that shock shaft has backlash/gap - http://youtu.be/jbStVYekpJ8 - while I moving shaft there is a noise produced. I believe this is a reason of noise.

Can anyone tell - is this normal (noise and shaft moving on video)?

btw, here is photos of shaft:

There is a reason why some of us call them Radfails! Nuff said.

I had a rattle noise develop about a month after putting my Radflos on. Couldn't figure it out for the life of me. Had multiple shops look to make sure it was nothing else. I'm not looking forward to replacing all four after 15K miles and wouldn't recommend these to anyone...

Have you spoken with Glen at Radflo? Are yours 2.0 or 2.5? Remotes? Longs? Other than being a little stiff around town I've been very pleased. Takes big hard hits like butter.

Also did you re-install the OEM washers or just the Radflo bushings?

Have either of you guys approached Radflo for warranty? And is there no one from Radflo here on MUD to reply back to their product?

well yeah. i've talked to radflo via local "dealer" - they offered send shock to them in order to rebuild, but postal fees are about 400$. So I was told they send me a rebuild kit on my shocks. Now I'm waiting for kit.

Address your email to "Glenn", fully describing all of your issues, as he will address.

If you've any issues sending unsolicited emails, feel free to exclaim that it was my idea and that Delancy sent you.

Mine are 2.5" extended as well. No reservoirs. Warranty period is over at this point. I just dealt with it until I started seeing others with the same issue. I've spoken to Glenn via email. He wanted to see photos of the installation, but in the end, his suggestion is to take them off and send them in to Radflo for inspection. I'm in the process of trying to find some replacements without spending another $500 on "temporary" shocks and then (like the previous post) another Benjamin to ship them...

I'm not sure where you are located. But OEM shocks can be purchased new for around $100 per pair.

This whole nightmare seems vaguely familiar to me. I have about 1000 pictures, with measurements and an hour of video. Amazing...... (insert rolleyes here) I replaced mine with permanent replacements.

FWIW, I've driven 100s with OME, FOX and Slee shocks up front. No issues, except for with the Radlos. And to make sure I wasn't crazy, I drove them all over a series of speed bumps near my house. The same speed bumps that made me realize I had a problem with the Radflos on day one. It sounded like someone was smacking my truck with a baseball bat when the Radflos unloaded.

I did not have a good experience with Radflo or their customer service. At all. Others have had good experience and service. I don't like company bashing and maybe my experience was an anomaly, but I would not do business with them again. IMO, there are better options out there.

And this morning I gave my truck the courtesy peek underneath and to my surprise (well not really) I see some liquid dripping from lower rear control arm. My second Radfail to spontaneously blow up and leak oil all over the place. Less than 8k miles on my setup. Good thing I saved the box from the last time I had this issue ( insert pissed off rolled eyes here).

Yes...I fully realize I just contradicted myself in my last post about company bashing. You got me on an off day. And before you ask, yes I contacted Mike and Glenn many many times. My issues are long over thanks to Metal Tech making it right. I've been running something else for over a year with no issues whatsoever, but the whole thing still stings a little for me. This isn't a new issue or a one time thing.

Stating this without knowing all the circumstances surrounding, but deeming irrelevant, considering the subject matter.

I have no affiliation with Glenn or Radflo beyond being a customer, for the record.

I believe your experience was an anomaly and I'd go as far as saying that, having dealt with Glenn on several vehicles through the course of the last four years, it probably bothers him that anyone would ever say "I won't do business with them again.", not from a revenue loss perspective either, and more than your experience eludes to.

If it were an isolated, one time deal that I experienced the complete antipathy to your complaints, I could see an instance where the "can't please everyone" may be employed, BUT it hasn't been the case for myself or any number of acquaintances I've referred to Glenn.

I usually wouldn't typically defend any vendor and I'm not a fan boy of any either, but I have always thought that Glenn's customer service set the bar for any other that I've dealt with.

Hate to hear your experience differs from that.

I appreciate your willingness to defend. Unfortunately, that carries no weight with me. Like I said, some have had a good experience. Scroll up, many have not. I see this has all the makings of a back and forth about Radflo thread.

For me personally, I would not buy another radflo product for any vehicle I owned. I would not do business with a company that puts Mike in the front as the customer service rep/product manager. That's me and these are my opinions based on my experience. For others, I would say draw your own conclusions. Give them a call, ask questions and make your decisions based on how you feel and what you want. My shocks had more miles through the air back and forth than they did on the ground under my truck.

Again, I encourage everyone to decide for themselves. This was over a year ago for me. Maybe issues are fixed. However, that doesn't fix the customer service issue I dealt with. I'm a small fish, I get that. I'll do business elsewhere, like you said, you can't please everyone.

Guys, I certainly appreciate all the feedback I get in this forum. I can honestly say I pride myself on the products we make and the service we deliver.

I know the 100 series has been an issue for some of my customers, especially the emulsion style OME replacement fronts. Although these match the exact OME lengths, for some reason, there tends to be more of a noise when the front shocks rebound over a speed bump than when compared to the extended version we make for use with an aftermarket UCA. This noise is due to a mechanical internal droop stop. We have developed a rubber internal droop stop for this reason. The design of these particular shocks is the same as all our other OE replacement shocks, so we have been baffled by the noise issue. It seems it is related to a droop/bump ratio needed when a vehicle is lifted.

I am more than willing to work with any 100 series customers unhappy with their product due to this issue. Please contact me directly info@radflo.com

We have made and sold many thousands of shocks over the years, with many happy customers both in the USA and abroad. With that being said, as with any manufactured product, there will be parts that fail, or not perform as expected. We are constantly looking at releasing new products, or working to fix issues that have become apparent.

As a company that manufactures product for the consumer market, we do not always get the feedback we need. It has been unfortunate that we have gotten such bad publicity in the 100 series forum, so to that end, I am extending an invitation to any current Radflo or prospective future Radflo customers to please let us know your thoughts on your experiences (both good and bad) you may have had, issues you may have faced, or if there are any questions regarding our products.

Regards,

Glenn

Glenn,

My grandad always said there is no shame in trying to improve something so don't let a little heartburn from a couple folks get you down. I surmise some of these folks are just the type that can't be satisfied with pumpkin pie and cool whip and although some of their crying may be supported, its not framed with good intentions when they "bash" your efforts. The reason being is if they are internet savvy enough to be on a forum they can figure out where the customer service email address is and handle their return as advised by the manufacturer.

Thats all.

Hope everyone has a great rest of the weekend.

^^It's nice that you drop in and take a sideways swipe at my complaint/concern. I have email records from my issue. Many of them. You're wrong to accuse before understanding the depth of the issue. But, in typical forum fashion..... A big gulp of Kool Aid without ever knowing the flavor. But you're probably right, I have no idea what I'm talking about and choose to be an interweb complainer.
