The speed that's read from OBD2 is the same as the speedo sees, ultimately derived from the speed sensor on the gearbox (I think that's where it is). Actually the OBD2 speed seems to be ~1mph down on the speedo needle in my GX at indicated 70mph.

What you'd need is either a way to add a fudge factor in the app to account for oversize tires, or for the app to use the phone GPS to track distance traveled.

I think Scangauge III can do the fudge factor for it's trip meter function but I do not know if that shows current MPG.

I know I can add/subtract a percent off my dash speedo but I still need to verify that it's correct from my phone's GPS and fine tune it up/down a fraction of a percentage until it's dead on.

Just pulled the trigger on this OBDII dongle: OBDLink MX+ OBD2 Bluetooth Scanner
Amazon product ASIN B07JFRFJG6Question: Does anyone know if you can get an accurate mileage reading from this? I know with the size of my tires, I'm about 10% off on speed and mileage, but the key word is, "about", so I really don't know what my real mileage is and would like to know when on road trips.

Also, I've been using the Torque on my Android with a very old dongle, and it didn't give me as much info as I'd like. So I guess another question, what's the best app for Android to use with this OBDII reader?

I believe Acrad uses this. Any insights Acrad??

I have the same device, not sure about your question but I am also curious if that is possible to offset the mileage and or Speedo reading. As we have the same size tires, I am also “about” 10 percent off. I think it’s like 8.7% difference, or so says the Tacoma world tire size calculator.

Wow! Ordered the OBDLink MX yesterday in the morning and it was on my doorstep by later that afternoon, same day!
Is our "supply chain" getting better???
Anyways, opening up the OBDLink MX was almost like opening up a new phone! The packaging it awesome. The hard cardboard box is really nice with a magnet closure. Then when you open it up, the dongle itself comes in a very nice little zippered and padded semi-hard shell case. Very impressive! Although, I would have preferred the product to be $10 or $20 cheaper and stuff it in a bubble pack brown box. But it's still a very impressive presentation package.
I currently have the paid version of the Torque app, and will be looking at other Android apps to see which may be the best for my needs.

That looks really nice. Much nicer than my Amazon special Bluetooth OBDII reader. Looking forward to hearing about your experience with it!

Has anyone with this OBDLink MX been able to get their TPMS to work with their OBDLink (Android) app?
Can't seem to get pressure or temp to read.

When you launch app are you being prompted for which network to attach to? TPMS is on it’s own network.
I do see some other long "numbers" when looking for "OBDLink" bluetooth.
Would these be the TPMS?
If so, how can I connect to the TPMS AND the OBDLink?
Thanks for chiming in Acrad.

I use torque pro and an elm327 bluetooth sender and would love to be able to see the TPMS sensors.

Unfortunately I think you can only do either or, all engine diagnostics or tpms.
I had to go through and try all the different tire options till I found the ones that worked, don’t know why but there are like 3-5 options for each tire. Now I check those first then go back and load the engine diagnostic option and use that while driving.

I too have the paid Torque Pro that I was using with a 20 year old OBDII dongle, that's the reason I went with OBDLink dongle and app. It'll give individual tire pressures and temps.
Also, it says the OBDLink app will only work with the OBDLink dongle. But can try.

Thanks! I appreciate it!

I went onto the OBDLink forum and asked some questions like
While trying different TPMS options (I think there are 3 or 4 for each tire??) and nothing worked. I was able to get mph, rpm, battery, etc., but no TPMS. I tried plugging/unpluggin and reconnecting several times. I think I messed something up (not physically, the OBDLink dongle is fine) because now the Bluetooth will connect to the MX+ dongle, but the dongle won't recognize my GX. Presently I've unplugged the dongle and uninstalled the app. I've restarted my phone, re-installed the app and have driven a few miles (to/from work) to hopefully reset the GX brain. During my lunch today I will try again what you suggested. I'm hoping the drive will reset my vehicles software.

Here's the response:
Please navigate to the Vehicle Editor and make sure all options under the Vehicle Build are selected. A button should appear to "Get Enhanced OEM Add-Ons". You should also be prompted to scan for PIDs. You may also need to disconnect and choose another network, if available. You will be prompted to choose a network when you tap the connect button after the OEM add-on is installed.

Once the add-on installed and you have scanned for PIDs you should be able to add a display to the dashboard.

Although I was finally able to get it working. Unfortunately we can't upload PDF's so here is the two page "Free Enhanced Add-On Activation" to make it work:

Not sure if this will help anyone out there who uses OBDLink.
Right now I'm having an issue of the Blue Tooth being constantly disconnected from the dongle and my phone.
Hummm.... :hmm:

The Enhanced Add-Ons is something you definitely want to make sure you add otherwise you only get generic OBD

In the OBD Link settings are you seeing any prompts to upgrade the firmware of the dongle? What Android phone do you have?

I did find the "Toyota/Lexus" PID's and now can add the TPMS, but the stupid dongle doesn't stay connected to vehicle, I don't mean physically connected, I mean it won't talk to it. It may connect for a few seconds then "disconnect". When using the connecting wizard, it shows the the arrow from the phone to the dongle and then a green check mark. Then it tries to connect the dongle to the vehicle. That's when it fails. The more I try the less often I get it to connect. This is why I think if I've found that after I drive it a bit, it seams to reset the vehicles computer. I'm going to try again later today.
Regarding my phone, I have a Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, so it's definitely up to date, both hardware and software.

Are you using Bluetooth connection to vehicle for music?
Yep. That was my next test, un-pair my phone from the infotainment system. On there forum, where I've also been asking questions, that was one of the suggestions along with a reset on the dongle. Just hold the button down on the dongle for 15 seconds and it'll go through a cyclic reboot of it's internals.
That should get me back to a base line starting point again.
