OK, I may have made a huge mistake.....I am pretty much wrapped up with everything, just need to fill front diff and throw the tires on.....

BUT, as I was re-installing the DS birf/axle, I noticed that there are 2 dimple on the birf joint.....I put the dimples on at 12'o clock and 6'o clock. But on the passenger side I paid no attention to it at all.

Do this dimples need to be lined up with something?? Please don't tell me I need to rip apart the passenger side again.....

Thanks!

Back on track....I messed up one of the seals and sure enough it is leaking.

My question is do I need to drain all the diff fluid out?? I understand that diff fluid would have gotten mixed with the grease. But that is not necessarily the same as grease mixing with the gear oil ??

(Meaning since I have put so few miles on it, it is possible that gear oil worked its way to the grease...but that the grease hasn't broken down and entered the front diff..

Anyway, can I pull the hub and seal without draining the gear oil??

Jack up the side your working on and the fluid will run to other side and you shouldn't lose much.

Perfect thanks. This would have been 9qts of Amsoil in the past 3 months if I had to dump it again....

Ouch. Don't do that! The small amount of possible contamination is nothing.

There is a great video on you tube on how to rebuild the front Steering Knuckle/front hub assembly too! As for molly grease, once you re pack your birf and assemble, remove the square nut on the top of the steering knuckle and buy the molly in a tube like tooth past. It's real easy to squirt in, No mess! then cut off the end of the tube and re fill with molly from a greese gun tube. i put 4 tooth past tubes full in and done! No mess! To hell with rags/paper towels use an old bath towel. Once again no mess!
