Question about pure gas

I get about 10-15% better MPG on the pure gas at a cost of about $0.20 per gallon more here in Durango. So for me its worth it. I don't really notice any power difference.

The one time I accidentally put E-85 or something like that in the 80 on a road trip I really noticed. Ran like crap for 100's of miles until I diluted that crap out. Teach me to fill up half asleep in the middle of the night.

Wow it's about $0.60 more per gallon around here

It was $1 more per gallon here in Florida.

I agree my sample size may have been small but that shouldn't have decreased my economy right? I was getting 20% less

Only about 20 cents a gallon difference here. Worth every penny here.

Hey Corbet what station(s) in Durango have the ethanol free? My son is heading that way with some friends at the end of the month for a 10 day trip to try out his RTT and would like to fill up with 100% gas.

Thanks for reminding me about the pure-gas.org website. I forgot about that one. As far as your MPG difference in using ethanol free, you may want to test the fuel to see if it really is ethanol free. I'm in the industry and have seen stations as high as 30% ethanol and were labeling their pumps ethanol free. Most of the time it is a driver loading error; however, sometimes it is the station owner wanting to rip off the public and pocket 20 to 25 cents/gallon.

Could be. Its my understanding that in FL gas stations are not allowed to sell ethanol free gas to autos. There usually one pump thats labeled "recreational fuel" or "marine fuel" thats supposed to be for boats only. Its hard to fathom a gas station selling ethanol gas as pure considering most people are filling up their boats, but I guess there are crappy people out there. I filled up twice, both at 2 different stations, so I don't know what was going on. Even though I may have had some ethanol gas left in my tank, the blend should still have given me better economy rather than 30% cheaper.

Good luck finding stuff in your area.

The Exxon Station on the corner of Main and 17th.

So weird. Maybe I'll try pure again
