Question about LX 570 FS in TX (1 Viewer)

Hi guys! First post, been lurking for a while. Currently own an 05 4Runner and am looking to upgrade. After going back and forth between the LC and 570, I've decided that I'd be happy with an LX ( and as others on here have mentioned, they are much easier to find).

Anyways, there is a '13 LX 570 for sale in San Antonio at the Land Rover dealer. I went and checked it out the other day, looks super clean and everything seems to work besides the front camera ( only spent a few seconds trying to get it to work... just said initializing). I didn't drive it at the time because traffic was absolutely horrendous but plan on going back this week or next. The only initial red flag is that they have had it on their lot since March... the sales guy said he was about to ship it to a buyer in the pacific NW but shipping costs ended up scaring the buyer away.

Have any of you happened to check this specific LX out? The price seems about right so unless there is something wrong with the truck, I can't figure out why it has sat for so long.

As a side note, it was kind of disappointing how unfamiliar and uneducated the dealer was about the car and the 200 series in general. I know they are a Land Rover dealer, but still... figured he'd be more educated about their competition.

Not sure why the carfax link doesnt work, but the price doesn't seem like a steal to me. I'm in Austin, own a 570, and would be much happier buying it from a Lexus dealer as certified for probably the same price. We have 2 or 3 dealers here in town an there's usually a newly used 570 in your price range. There were 3 in town when I bought mine. 2 were certified. All were in the 40-50 range for model years '11 and '13.

I ended up with some soccer mom's car that had it serviced every 3K miles at the same shop (which is like a mile from my house coincidentally) for 3 yrs before trading it in. I too gave up on finding a LC based on short timeline requirements. There were 3 LC 200's in all of TX for sale the week I needed to trade in my vehicle, and all in different cities - SA, Dallas, Houston - so just shopping would have been a PITA. At the same time, there were 3 570's in Austin alone. Tested the two certifieds, went with the cleaner history.
 
With all the floods in TX and LA these past 18 months I'd want to know where it came from..... I looked at one LC in houston that was clearly a flood truck but had a clean carfax...

Well worth widening the search area.... I'm happy to look at rigs in Houston. also are you not planning any mods ? if so the LC is a far better starting platform....

on price - that's not a great deal as noted - my 13' LC CPO'ed was just under 50k...with 52k on it.

Thanks for the replies! I had the sales guy print out the carfax. Two owner car, originally purchased in San Antonio at North Park Lexus and has been serviced there it's whole life at all of the recommended service intervals. No major repairs or issues noted. The Land Rover dealer said someone traded it in for a Range Rover. Since they have had the car so long I'm sure I could get them down on the price a little bit, especially if I wait until 2017 rolls around.

I'm not in a rush at all. Looks like all of the certified 570's near me at the time are north of 60K for '14 and '15 models so I'll wait and see what comes up in the next month or so. I agree that it is probably better to buy from a Lexus dealer at this price point, I just wasn't sure if anyone had looked at this specific 570 since it's been for sale for so long. Ideally I'd like to stay as close to 40K as I can. If that means waiting six months or a year, so be it.

I don't plan on modding it at all, maybe just some KO2's since I love having them on my 4Runner, and maybe different wheels. It will be 90% street driven until I move to Denver later next year. Even then, I'll stay on the trail.
 
Lol, I actually think it's a pretty good price and like the exterior more than the newer ones. See if you can get a full warranty and knock a grand or two off. White exterior and light interior is a great color combo for San Antonio heat.

While you are there, text drive a similar year Range Rover to compare. I know the newer Range Rover models are much more reliable then years past but it would be interesting to do a sidebyside comparison.
 
Yeah I actually considered driving a rover while I was there; and I've heard the reliability is better with the newer ones, but I still don't think their reliability compares with the LC/570... I may still drive one for fun.
 
I am checking autotrader and the cheapest certified 570 within 500 miles is a 2013 with 68,923 miles for $49,900. Makes the one I l am looking at seems a little more attractive...
 
But the Lexus certified program is very strong... just saying!

If you're moving to Denver next year, I would strongly urge going the LC route instead! The trails out here are just too good to pass up. :)
 
From the Lexus Drivers site service history...
VIN: JTJHY7AX1D4100233

Might want to recheck the VIN from Land Rover
That VIN had battery replaced at 89K, Aug 2016, and no prior service from Lexus until you go back to 50K range.

So you're saying the VIN might be wrong? The ODO on the dash matched the Car Fax that was printed out.

You can make an account with Lexus (or Toyota) and pull the service records via the VIN. I'm assuming that's what txtortoise did.
It's a good trick to see what kind of service was done in a detailed manner. In most cases it'll show exactly what was done to the vehicle if it was performed by a Lex/Toy dealer.
 
I have a Toyota account, and created a Lexus account but it keeps on saying invalid VIN. I've checked that the online ad and the Car Fax print out have the same VIN, which is also the same VIN that txtortoise used. I'm not sure why it isn't going through.... Will post back if I am able to get it to work.
 
Thank you Redbull! You're right, if there is any doubt about the service history at all I should just move on. I'll just keep my eyes open locally for one like any of the three that you linked. Gotta love the black / black combo! But the white looks so clean... decisions decisions :)
