I'm doing some preventative maintenance on my '93 FZJ-80, and doing a few deletes and bypasses while I'm in there. My truck is originally a California truck, which means it has EGR and an EGR temp sensor.

I want to delete EGR and bypass the EGR temp sensor without throwing a CEL code 71.

Member @baldilocks purchased a new OEM wiring harness and it came with the Toyota OEM resistor/delete plug for the EGR temp sensor (Toyota PN: 82824-35020). EGR Delete Questions... YES, I used search!

Unfortunately the OEM delete plug is NLA. Presumably, Toyota didn't make a special wiring harness just for the California trucks. They just added a temp sensor for the California trucks, and included the delete plug for the non-California trucks.

My question is, was the delete plug included on all '93 - '97 non-California wiring harnesses from the factory? In other words, can I find a non-California FZJ80 that someone is parting out and grab the OEM resistor plug?

It's not a resistor, it's a jumper. Well, a resistor of 0 ohms. Unless you are entering it in a fancy car show I'd just shove a wire in the plug and heat shrink it.

I didn't realize that. I thought some people were throwing codes because there wasn't a resistor included in the jumper.

But I can basically just do this?

On OBDII trucks, there may be more to it, but OBDI uses just a straight jumper.

@Will Van - What are you hoping to gain or accomplish by deleting the egr system.

I’d like to reduce the number of vacuum lines under the hood, simplify the truck, and correct my CEL Code 71.

Put a jumper wire into the wire harness side of the plug ; then throw the egr and pair valve in the trash, if you wanna be real cool pull all the vacuum limes and vsv plugs under the manifold and toss them too. I’ve been running two vacuum lines now for years , keep the one for the fps and one for the tps and that’s it . Vent the charcoal canister to the earth thru the fender

I love the idea of deleting all the vacuum lines and VSV plugs under the manifold.

Where is the charcoal canister vented in OEM configuration? Back into the intake manifold?

Here's where I got mine: EGR Temp Sensor Test Plug
@LC4LIFE carries both; one with the resistor for OBDII models (95 to 97) and one without for OBDI models (93 to 94).

Yes but on mine now instead going to the manifold runs down the fender to atmosphere , you could run another small filter in the line

I did this exactly work like magic yanked it all without looking back and in the same time I yanked all silicon houses and replaced with OEM and green stripe and replaced the old bypass around the PAR with metal pipe from newer model

The 93-94 take a slightly different plug than the 95-97, and yes, no resistor. Luckily after hunting around for quite awhile I was able to find the correct plug for the 93-94. I only brought in five to make sure they worked and they did. I have many more on order and should be able to meet demand in about 2-3 weeks.

Thanks for offering this product!!!

It will really help me test my EGR system.

yes but you dont need the resistor :) i used the plug from the old temp sensor it looks OEM
Agreed, that is why I do not put the resistor in the 93-94 plug.
