I'm in the market for a used 460 and looking at a very clean 2011 Premium model. When I was test driving it, the stereo sounded pretty good, but I forgot to look and see if the little badge behind the slide down cover said Mark Levinson on it. Does the Premium model always come with the ML stereo, or it is an optional add-on? This one also has the video screens facing the 2nd row seats. Not sure if that makes a difference. Thank you.

Never seen a 10-13 Premium without it. Technically was an option according to literature. Do you have pics of the rear doors? Small tweeters at top as well as left side cargo area subwoofer speaker grille would indicate ML

Here's one of the side doors. Looks like a tweeter to me. Didn't notice the sub in the back, but wasn't really looking for one at the time.

It's the only name Lexus uses.
Seems different auto manufacturers will hook up with specific high end audio companies and use that brand on all their higher end vehicles.

My '19 Premium does not have ML. I think 14+ Premiums are different than earlier years though.

We did test drive/listen to a 2017 460 withOUT ML, and it sounded pretty good too. I think the stock system sounds better than other cars we've driven in the past few months. The stereo in the Dodge Durango 2018 definitely didn't sound as good. It wasn't the "Beats" stereo in the Durango, but sounded muddy. We had an 08 Durango with Alpine stereo and it rocked. Awesome car, but it blew up at around 240k and rusted to hell too. Shame, great V8 Hemi of it's day. That's why we're going GX460 after looking for months at Dodge, Toyota, Acura, etc.

Part of what makes the GX sound so good is sound deadening.
That's what so hilariously funny when you get guys in these dumpy cars that put thousands of dollars worth of stereo, amps, speakers, etc. and it'll still sound like junk! Part of what makes good sound is acoustics. It's not all about the sound system.

I had the 11 speaker ML system in my 2008 GX470 and the non-ML in my 2019 definitely doesn’t sound as good. I can barely hear the music in the third row of my 460 and my 470 was was loud and clear.

That said, I’m not sure if ML in the 460s is the same, but the ML in the 470s had 8 ohm speakers and finding brand name replacement speakers was almost impossible because most auto speakers are 2 or 4 ohm. That and the read air suspension are the reasons I purposely stayed away from the Luxury model when I bought my 2019.

I'm current '16 T4R owner looking to get into a GX460. I have my eyes on a '17 lux. What reasons do you have for staying away from the Lux with the air suspension?

None. You can do a suspension lift of any size whether or not you have air suspension. I had it on mine. They just delete it.
You won't need it any longer anyways.
With the luxury trim we (wife and I) love the audio, climate zones, heated and ventilated seats, etc.
Only trim I'd get again (if I had to replace my current rig).

Good to hear. I remember reading years ago that the 470 air suspension had a lot of issues, so I was curious if that's why Arailt said he was staying away from it.

Also, deleting the air suspension does not throw any codes. So you not having to chase down random codes.
