do your write up, i feel it is good info.
it is just i hear "my 2lTE has done 20,000 km, (40,000 km) etc and no issues so you are full of crap" and then the next month you read somewhere his head blows. i get tired of it. once one of these in Canada sees 300,000 (WITHOUT any major issues) then start the feeling of confidence.
seriously, if it was a $500 repair with no further issues then i would be all over the old girls.
(but then, you look at the:
- 3B fine spline alternator vacumm pump repair at $2000.
- HDT BEB issue repair at anywhere fom $6000 to $10,000.
- the full time front diff noise repair of the 80 series at $3000
- the head cracking issues of the 3B at $2500
- the oil journal plug on the 3F / 3FE which when it pops drains the entire oil supply in seconds leaving you with a $3000 repair bill
- the automatic burn out repair bill of between $4K and $6.5K
- the fluid seal between the manual tranny and the split case when not caught in time results in either a burnt tranny or t/case which can range from $2500 used to over $6K new to fix)
i could go on but these are the issues we all have to live with depending on the Toyota we drive.
