The spacers give a better stance and are needed to mount the wheel since the Tacoma wheel is hub-centric. Look on Craigslist, got all 5 for $100/wheel, I see them all the time on Craigslist for cheap, people don’t realize what they have -it’s actually a BBS wheel, very premium wheel. I’m looking to get a bronze set for my white GX470.

For those running 16x10 or anything wider than a 8 inch wheel, are you concerned about pre-mature wear on wheel bearings?

Anyone else running the 5th gen trd trail wheels? I have a set that I was thinking of throwing on my 80 but wanna see some pics first.

Hello,

Could you comment on why you got rid of the Method 105 beadlocks?

Also, I called Method and talked to a tech. he said the 701 wheels do not have a large enough thru bore for the front and would have to be machined out to fit over the hub. There is a step inside the inner diameter for a snap in center cap. Can you comment on fitment in the front also?

I am in the middle of building a 1997 J80 and still trying to decide on wheels. I like the Method bead locks, but they are very expensive and not DOT app;roved. I would go with the 701 wheels, but do not want to have them machined to open up the bore.

Edit:

Zooming in on your photo, it looks like you did have the bore machined out larger, as I see exposed aluminum in the bore.

I'm always down to whore out wheel pictures.

Got rid of the Method 105 beadlocks and went with Method MR701 wheels along with Discoverer STT Pro tires.

17x9 105’s fit during my test fitting. Center caps will be a tight fit.

How did that work out with the offset on the 105's? Rubbing issues? Method lists them as a -38mm offset / 3.5" backspace. I am looking at the 106's, they are listed as a -44mm offset / 3.5" backspace. I think the bead lock ring is thicker on the 106's, hence the difference in offset to get the same backspace.
