Since this thread has sort of become the "show us your numbers" thread, I finally got the cruiser smog tested today and it passed. These engines can pass legit if everything is working correctly.
- Original block with 277680 on the odo
- Overhauled head 2 years ago (& manifold)
- Cleaned out, semi rebuild carb 3 years ago.
- Recurved dissy
- All smog equipment installed (and apparently working)
- Timing set on 7° timing mark (though tech wrote down 10° because he was too lazy to check the timing)
- Fresh mid grade Chevron 89 octane gasoline with no ethanol added
- 5 gallons of gasoline in the 48 gallon tank (which annoys the tech during the EVAP test)
- 31" tires. 3.70 gears.
- OEM cat
But frankly, if my engine didn't pass I would have been at a loss as to why. I had gone over every component very carefully prior to the test.
CA makes you earn it!
What's interesting is that
@Spike Strip 's test shows the max allowed limit for NOx much lower (751) than my max allowable limit (1073) and we tested in the same county. I wonder what's up with that?
