Hello
I am looking for information that I can not find in France
and that toyota france could not give me
what is the pulling power of the rear cossmember.
see on the pic
thank you

Hooooo boy, here it comes. ;)

I'ma only going to say look either in the door jamb, or the literature/handbook.
You should have a tow rating for the pintle hook listed if a pintle style is a standard equipment item in France.

However, your bolts look mismatched to my eyes/that pic. You may want to make sure you have the right hardware in there for whatever tow rating is listed.
Maybe just me, the top bolt looks different/cheaper/weaker than the lower.

Good evening
I took pics on forum to show.
In owner manual no value on crossmember
although the pintle hook is sold by Toyota

How much are you looking to pull?

Are you asking to use this to tow a trailer?
Or do you want to pull a tree out of the ground?
What do you intend to pull with this?

for tow trailer maximmun 2500 kg

That's right at the max our USA / receiver based ball hitches are rated to.
A Swiss fellow reported closer to 7500# for his 80/his country.

Really - there's not a place on your 80 with stickers/documentation for easy reference?
Driver door jamb, underhood, inside glovebox door, out near tailgate/ hatch / jamb.

If you're going to tow that weight, I'd REALLY buy 4 matching bolts, that top one in the pic looks very suspect.

maximum of 295kg
That's probably a tongue weight.

The bolts should be looked at, but color doesn't in any way indicate strength. It's just the type of anti-corrosion coating. They might all be fine, might not. Usually the marks on the head indicate strength.

^this ^ possibly but that's a heck of a lot of tongue weight for the construction of the crossmember. Maybe @cDan would know. He's the keeper of the cruiser history and all.

Wrong @cDan. @cruiserdan is the one you're really looking for.

And the other guy mentioned 7177 LB (Whatever that is in kg......) for TOWING, not tongue wieght.

Correct - bottom bolt looks to have ~6 spines on it, top has zero identifiers per my Ipad. But how we mark ASE sized bolts does differ from metric - but quality hardware is simply that.
Why I have harped on the issue ;)

I tried to get a French copy, but only English was available.
The Owner's manual states towing info in the "Starting and Driving" section.
Pages 6 and 7 of this pdf should be helpful.

The rear cross member provides absolutely no pulling power, nada, zero. All the power is provided by the engine. The horsepower provided by the frame sucks, even in France. :flipoff2:

The bottom bolt looks like grade 8 US bolt.
Metrics are stamped with a number like 8.8, or 10.9.
If no marks it would be a good paper weight.

This was a lot more fun before you brought reason, logic, comprehension, and sense into it.

If you say. I took the message as his pic to show us a pintle, but that's the fun of goofle translator.

Either way then, I called it as I saw the pic. :meh:
