So I got my PS convesionkit but it had the wrong length bolts.
SO i got some 10.9 metric bolts in the same diameter, but longer.

But they were not long enough to fit the 2 washers to go on either side of the bolts, so I just put them on with nuts and red threadlock.

So my question is what purpose do the washers serve.
Do they make it stronger, or just easier to tighten and untighten later on?

I've gotten the correct length bolts finally, but since i used red threadlock, I'm have trouble getting motivated to swap them out, especially the ones that mount the pedestal to the frame.

So how important are the washers and more particularly why are they important?

I'm trying to look for a reason to either get motivated, or feel safe going on.

Thanks,

Cal-

Washers distribute the pressure/torque evenly around the hole and add more surface area for the pressure/torque to rest on. Also washers keep the nut from eating in to the softer casting .

For that particular design of thread locking nut, you want a couple of threads showing past the end of the nut.

It's hard to tell if those nuts are toplock or nylock, either way you need two to two and a half threads showing. If you are using Locktite you can use a regular nut. As mentioned above, a little heat and the locktite will cook off.
