I’ve been trying to figure a way to externally fit *more than enough* propane for cooking and showers... I think I found a good combo that juuuuust clears everything using the side of the ladder on my @sleeoffroad bumper.

This is the bracket:
Triangle Fire, Inc. | Fire Extinguisher Parts | Amerex Model 812 6 in. Heavy Duty Vehicle Bracket

Intention is to hose and run it down to the spindle corner of the swingout for showers on the left side of the truck...and cooking etc. on the right.

If I need to use the truck while someone needs flame at camp, it’s a quick unlock to remove the tank.

I know I’m not the only one considering some sort of fuel mount...so see what you think...

Looks good. I have the same tank and use the powertank bracket but yours looks beefier.

Hey Roy...

I actually bought a power tank mount...but it was too large for this 6” tank... & also had angled sides that would work for my setup. This mount is flat on the mount side, so I could off-set it a bit in to clear my jerry cans and barely clear an opening rear hatch.

But anyway, ya. This one is pretty stout.
$38.

I’ll run what I brung for now. Jason mounted it pretty good to the swing out. But if it ever fails, I’ll be getting more info from ya. Hahaha.

Ya, I was working with very limited space and angles...on a platform not designed for a bottle. Whatever works, right? :)

I wouldn’t know where to source it but there is a bracket similar to this only there is a hole in the latch handle that slides over a stub meant for a safety pin.

MANY fire apparatus have these brackets for their extinguishers and they are generally pretty good.. that is until we put too small of a bottle in or destroy them by cramming too much crap into a compartment.

Ya, a pin is a good idea.
This one has a latch that requires massive force to lock it, but I’ll still be drilling my own pin-holes soon just make sure a branch doesn’t grab the lever, etc.

I'm not sure the ones I've seen would survive "massive force" for long. The latch arms themselves are heavy enough steel as you can see.. but I've seen the two connecting links fail before. IIRC the threaded nut on the left side is to adjust the tension for the specific container. Personally I'd set it up for something reasonable.

Is there a provision for a lock? That tank is pricey and may be an attractive target?

Ya... I’ll be locking it to the latter.

Update:
When worried, I can attach a bike lock…or unscrew the hose by hand and put tank inside. After 4 years of often doing neither…still there…never tampered with. I’m not superstitious…so not even gonna knock on wood. :)

Mark, you're getting within spitting distance of needing a small trailer..........;)

If I saw that rig heading down the trail, I'd think "There goes a serious overlander."
