Of Course I got pics ;)

Hows Oregon been? Your coming up on your summer soon ( the month of August)... :p

Tech...

If anyone has ever wanted a really small FJ60. This is it. There are so many parts that exchange over its not even funny. Even sitting in the cab the styling is same. I went from an 82 fj60 to an 82 Hilux, I put a 2004 2RZ motor out of a Tacoma 2.4 and get high 20's and can cruise 80mph with ease.

Tech Over...

Al, it was great to finally meet you!

Those pictures do not do your hilux justice. That truck is gorgeous!

Heck yeah,

I would have liked to hang out at camp more but I missed dinner and the raffle because I was out wheeling. I think next year we are going to GSMTR to switch it up, you should give it a shot.

stop trying to convert 60 owners to mini owners fawker :flipoff2:

I did it too :( :bounce:

I miss the space, but love the 2x MPG. I am curious how much difference the 2RZ makes compared to the 22re. After replacing a completely toasted clutch and rear main that was leaking enough oil to save the flywheel with a Marlin HD unit, I am getting right at 20mpg with stock 4.10 and 255/75/17 BFG MTs and cranked torsion bars and add a leaf. Hoping to get better with 4.88s if I can ever find a set of stock 3rds for cheap (pull a part or <$200).

I love the 1st gens but had to have the ext cab for my kids to be able to ride, we had 5 of us piled in before I switched over to buckets. :)

Did you ever update your build thread on your pickup? I saw one over on NFC forum, but haven't been back in months.

89srule,

That's about the only thing I miss is the space of the 60, I want to get another wagon to restore but that's on the back burner til I get some more garage space. The 2RZ only has about 18K miles on it, so its just a baby. At 75-80 I get about 23-24 mpg with the a/c cranked. If I keep it around 60mph I can get around 28mpg. The 2RZ has about 50-60hp more than the tired 22r did its a blast to drive. I almost wanna turbo it ( evil grin )... but that will have to wait. I have 255/85/r16 (33.3") tires and 4.10s at the moment but am switching to 4.88s to help with the in town driving that I do most of the time.

Got some pics of the xCab?

Another one from the trip...

Here is my thread, needs to be updated, but has some other pics and details:

I recently put in the Marlin HD clutch and it make a big diff. Trying to remember my speedo is at least 15% off throws me for a loop, but I have a good bit of power if i keep it over 3K RPMs. It does not like keeping speed on hills, so depending on where I get a job I will either get the 4.88s or get some 235/75/15's for the spare set of rims I have.

Nice pics.... love the Hilux.

Oregon Summer's are the best. We've had a good streak of weather for about the last month. I imagine we'll have about another few weeks of sun and then back to gray. Of course I missed wheelin AGAIN this summer but I made up for it on my motorcycle. :)

You ever going to make it out here again?

I'm gonna move this to the Mini truck Section :flipoff2:

Pm headed your way lowtideride. Having issues with my 22re and looking at options. Need advice ASAP as this is my DD and I just started s new job. Thanks in advance!

I have a JD2 tubing bender and 25ft of 1.75 HREW

Finish that rig up drive it over and we will bend some up...

You can pick up a stick of tubing from a local steel supplier, also race shops have it sometimes....But you must make sure you are getting tubing and not pipe and that its 1.75. Pipe is a different animal altogether and is even measured differently, so if did end up getting pipe that was 1.75 it would not even fit in the bender...

Ill let ya know if I get some more and you can throw in for a stick so ya dont have to drive over from G-ville with a stick of tubing on your roof...

Oh costs for making them...couple bucks in grinding discs and welding wire and around 35 bucks for the tubing...
Wow those sliders turned out great as did the whole build! You can build me a pair anytime !

Velveeeta Wag stats:
4.56
Aussie locked front & back
4 runner calipers
Rear discs
fj80 master
line lock
2lo
37 mtrs on bent 2.5 back spacing U.S. steel wheels
swing out
tranny, t-cas proection
ARB
8274,syn line, in cab controls
hand throttle
SOA on 2.5 inch lifts springs
Anti-inversion shacles f&r (2inch over stock)
1/8 steel cut up high Q'er panels
hellas
par-desmogged rocket ship 2f
Over the hill hi-steer
Thrashed body, broken birfs, broken and bent body parts and the list goes on...

And about a zillion little other things, like: longer soft lines for when ya break birfs you can set the caliper on top the axle,no rock/mud shields,re-built alxes, diffs, kunckles, carb, so and so forth, new toyo parts on all the engine crap like alternator, water pump , fan clutch, vac hoses etc etc...

I have spent more time on this truck then is sane and it will never really be done. there is always somthing to build better or nuttier.

After this project is done I am willing to bet Velveeta Wag turns into a full time rock crawler...as of right now and the last couple of years it have been my DD.

How did you like those springs? ride quality? height? flex? could they carry much weight? I'm currently SOA with stock springs that are shot running 37's. Looking for the best option. Heavy bumpers front and rear and haul lots of gear...
