I have decided to post up a build we have been working on for months, and I feel it deserves to be shared with cruiser nerds. I must warn you , it is not a OEM 45, so don't get all crazy on us:p
We started with a full boxed Aqualu frame and body.
-Ram jet
-NV4500
-Orion
-arb air lockers
-Discs all around
-OME 2.5 lift

This build started with us receiving it in a rolling form with the motor and trans in it. A bare body that needed everything, so here goes.

Just a little side note, this won't be a super detailed build thread, but you'll get the point!!

Can't wait to see more pictures

Yeah where da pics at? Tease.

here is a shot of the body on with the blank removable fiberglass hard top, and the windshield wiper gear assembly in the aluminum frame. We tried to use a factory frame but that wont even come close to working with the aluminum cowl. The reason we tried to use a factory frame was due to curiosity and the sealing surface from the bottom of the frame to the cowl. We really wanted to use a factory rubber in that area, but due to the design of the aluminum cowl, that was a no go!
For the seal from the hard top to the cowl and the the seal between the top section to the window section, we used reproduction $OR 45 rubber and cut them to length, drilled holes in the top and rear section of the cowl, for steel riv nuts to capture 6x1.0 stainless bolts!

Are u making the fiberglass roofs? If so more details would be great.

Sent from my phone using IH8MUD

Aqualu is, however not much more detail about them on their web site, as I am curious if you can seperate the top from the back part of the top?

yes the top does come off of the back section. There are no holes for mounting them together or window cuts so all that has to be done. I used SOR reproduction 45 top rubber in that section and the section between the rear rub to the window section.

Ok, so the thought or theme for the interior is to have a modern/elegant but retro interior. So we are going to build a full center section, with the A/C and heat behind the seats. the unit will be mounted to the floor with a full upper cargo section above it. The fuse box and all the wiring will be on the drivers side behind the seats as well. This will enable a clean engine bay and a uncluttered dash area. The seats are from a 06 4 runner, full electric seats with heaters. As for the interior finish we have thoughts of tan leather, tan carpet and some mahogany trim.

Nice, a 45 with center console and cup holders...
:crybaby:
I'm driving down the road with the hot tea doing a balancing act... Pretty old school.

Nice work so far!

dew and coffee anyone? You can also see the AC conversion in the rear section of the extended cab
