I've had my '95 80 for about six years now. It is real basic, just a body lift and a bit of trimming to fit the 37's. It has worked fine, but now that the Rubicon trip has materialized, and I now happen to own a untouched 3x locked '93 80, some decisions needed to be made. My original intention was to keep the '95 and part out the '93. But frankly the body, chassis and interior of the '93 are in better shape than my '95, the '93 has fewer miles. Therefore I have decided to do some (a lot) of work to the '93 and part out the '95.
When I bought the '93, I knew the running lights did not work, the windows would not go up or down, the diff locks and CDL are inop, and it has a significant exhaust leak at the cats. To date I have fixed up the lights and the windows.
So here are my plans for the '93:
- Pull the drivetrain
- Reseal
- Replace all hoses
- Fix CDL
- Install 3.1 low range gears
- Swap '95 exhaust (newish Magnaflow downpipe and cat) into '93
- Delete Pair system / move O2 sensors to manifolds
- 2" Dobinson long travel lift
- 1-2" body lift
- Swap sliders from '95
- Buy/build F & R bumpers
- Install Badlands 12k winch
- Build skid plate
