Alternator and dual battery time! Two Odyssey 31-PC2150S batteries will take over duty from the stock original Panasonic. 2300 CCA should do nicely. The "S" suffix in the part number denotes stainless 3/8" (9.5mm) stud terminals.... perfect!

Curious about this alternator swap, do tell

I'm looking at 220 amp units, new in the box. No hot rodded failure prone jobbies. More to come as I'll be taking delivery of a BJ 73 in next week or two, so we can afford to have the 200 down for R&D.

Link to your BJ thread if you start one please.

A couple of acceptable pics while out on my local test trail. Wheels and tires fill out the wheel wells perfectly and the 33.1" AT KO2 on TRD wheels seem to clear everything so far. Extremely capable and stable given the type of build.View attachment 1105312 View attachment 1105315

Your build is the shizznits as i know you're one of the originals that pioneered some of the possibilities for us 200 owners. I couldnt help but notice that you ran bilstein 4600s in the rear. Were those from tundra? if they were from tundra, are they direct bolt ons without any major issues or need to cut or sand down? I have 6112 tundra fronts and dont know much options for the rear that's bilstein. i tried searching for your thread where you had all the trials and tribulations for the 200s but i cant find the thread...

Please let me know. Thanks!

Satin black RHD dash trim with start stop and high low button positions. Snaps right in place of the standard LHD trim. Now to see what dials can be utilized to actuate lockers.

VDJ200 diesel radiator swap is complete. All proper high performance cooling systems should have an expansion tank/degas bottle.

Much of the front end had to be removed for the diesel radiator swap, so it was a great time to freshen it up.... satin black grill with gray Toyota emblem and trim, black headlight mod (BHLM). I've lost count of how many vehicles have received this treatment.

Brian, what benefits do you see in running the VDJ radiator over the URJ?

The radiators are identical except for the top header tank. The VDJ version has no radiator cap, but rather a bleed port that sends steam/gas/coolant to the expansion tank/degas bottle. In a nut shell, it helps seperate air and dissolved gasses from the coolant. This makes the system more efficient. Under load, it keeps the steam and vapor produced by engine from collecting in the top header tank and or being forced down through the radiator core, where it reduces energy transfer, sometimes significantly. System capacity grows from 17.7 liters to 19.2.

Additionally, my hypothesis is that the steam is part of the radiator header tank cracking problem. It deteriorates the nylon plastic at a much faster rate than hot liquid coolant.

Apologies for the typical long delays.

Arya, basically this rig needs to do it all w/o compromising running the kids to school everyday. Toyota left a hefty helping of obtainable performance on the table with this machine, especially in the suspension and chassis. Yes, the 200 still uses the 9.5, but just like the late build 100 (2007), it has the larger diameter 1.28" pinion gear splines.

Now, where to mount this?

@bjowett I know this is a crazy old thread, but where did you end up mounting your diff lock switch? I'd like to put it in the spot you're hinting at, but I'm not sure if there's space underneath to fit. Unfortunately there's no good dash blanks available for this in my 2013 as I've already occupied most of the right side with extraneous lighting and the left side comes full from the factory.

Thanks Brian. Did you end up mounting it somewhere else? I'm not 100% convinced the center console near the MTS control is the best location, it just seemed like an obvious spot
