Folks,

Picked up one of these new

3000 MAX PSI Elite Seriesâ„¢ | Pressure Washers | Generators & Pressure Washers | Briggs & Stratton

and am having trouble getting it to start. It doesn't even seem close to starting. My only thought is that I put gas in there that was about 2-months old. Is this long enough to stop it from starting? I used the same gas to start mower and weedeater, both started with no problems. Does a power washer require "very" fresh gas? This is the first time trying to get it to start. Plug is new, and I have followed all the directions.

Thanks,
Jonny

2 month gas shouldn't be a problem.

Is the switch on "Run"? There's probably a "Run/Off" switch somewhere.

Do you have the choke on?

Is it firing at all?

Prime button or something?

petcock turned on?

Check your oil level, some engines have a oil level sensor that won't let it start on low oil.

Are you using 2 stroke fuel mix w/a 4 stroke washer ?

To summarize what has mostly been said already,

-Pull the plug and add a tiny bit of fuel
-Run switch on
-Fuel valve - open
-Relieve any pressure in the water line and leave the hose off for the first start
-Check the oil level (full is your friend)
-Choke on but only for a pull or two, then turn it off and keep pulling (the BS floods very easily)

If no luck with the above, take it back and get one with a Honda or Subaru/Robin

:lol::lol:

I've had very good luck with B&S engines. That being said, my new pressure washer has the Subaru and it's great.

Thank you for your summary.

The run switch is on, the choke is on (although it looks to have been assembled incorrectly as the choke doesn't seem like it engages). Tried it by holding the choke in.

Put oil in it as per the instructions. Followed step by step the "First time use" riles in regard to what should/shouldn't be connected.

I will pull the plug and put a couple of drops of gas in there.

Fuel valve is on...

:bang:

Will probably be the weekend before I take another stab at it, but will report back when I do. Thanks guys

Some have a relief valve for the pump that has to be opened for starting. Otherwise, you are trying to pressurize the...umm...pressure washer, and the engine can't turn fast enough.

If you have checked everything UltraFJ posted and it still won't run you need to do a little troubleshooting.

Air, fuel and spark. You need all 3 for it to run. It's possible that there is a cap or cover over something that needs to be removed before use.

The air part is pretty straight forward, take off the air cleaner and make sure everything is put together properly. While you have the air cleaner off move the throttle and check that it is properly attached to the carb and is operating correctly.

Try to start it using the normal procedure, if it doesn't crank pull the spark plug. Is it wet? If so it's getting fuel, if not you need to trouble shoot the fuel system. If you are getting fuel to the cylinder and it won't start, hold the spark plug against the block and pull the starter. Look for a spark between the electrode on the tip of the plug.

If you have all three and it still won't start, most likely it is flooding. If so, adjust the carb. Or take the POS back.

Begin by pulling the plug after attempting to start it, that will narrow things down quite a bit.

Where in the heck have you been? I thought you sold all of that Tiger stuff and might have bought all new Crimson fan gear and have just been bashful about it. :D

I've been running a JV for my company in Saudi Arabia for the last 3 years. We did buy a retirement property on some acreage near Auburn last summer though and have started counting down to our permanent return. 11 months to go.

 Congratulations.

I know a fellow that retired from a company and spent many years in SA and Chile. You probably know of the company. Is the local corporate office near the zoo?
