Has anyone changed the original steering damper on a 92 land cruiser? I am having problems getting it out, all the bolts are off but it wont come off no matter what I do.

The FSM says to use a pitman arm puller.

Just did mine. Gotta use the puller. A tie-rod end fork did me no good. Had to use the bolt style puller.

I hit mine with a BFH about 20 times
Puller didn't work for me

When using the puller, mine was seized up pretty good. It finally let go with a huge POP!!! Just be prepared for it and you'll be fine. BFH may work well too.

Thank you all, the problem i am running in to is that the damper has bolts only on one side and the other side it flat. I will upload pictures tonight so the you can see it better.

Was just having the same problem. I tried a puller and it was not working. Finally found the winning combination.

Apply plenty of heat. Have a fire extinguisher nearby, you will start fires.
Insert fork between mounting bracket and damper (where all the melted rubber and grease is).
Open can of MAN.
Hit fork repeatedly until evil tie rod ends pop off.
