I’d be researching that solenoid. Is the wire harness connected to it?

Agreed on the solenoid. I don’t know about the wheel play issue but I tried unplugging the solenoid on my HDJ81 and it felt like I didn’t have power steering.

Did it maybe get fried or damaged when welding on those reinforcement plates?

The wire to the solenoid got ripped out of the connector.

Fixed it and added strain relief, it’s fine now!
