So most of the sockets are 10mm drive? That would sure suck for those of us with 3/8" ratchets and extensions. 3/8" and 10mm do not interchange. That's a big difference.

I have confirmed with SATA the ratchets and extensions are 3/8s

This could certainly be a solid option for anyone that doesn't already have a decent stash of tools. I could only find one price in Malaysian Ringitt sp? came out to about $183.

SATA tools are made by apex tool group. So expect similar quality to gearwrench.

with this type of relatively inexpensive kit, I would want to know how much slop there is in the wrenches and sockets. I have seen quite large differences ranging from very tight to awfully sloppy. It starts being important when you have to reef on stuff to get it loose or tight.

That's a mile in my world. That's 480 microns.

And in a regular Joe practical sense, no, 3/8 and 10MM do not fit together and do not interchange. If you tried to drive a 10MM female square with a 3/8" male square it would fail at a significantly lower torque than a properly sized connection would.

It would be almost the same scenario as trying to tighten a 6mm SHCS that has a 5mm internal hex using a 3/16 hex key. If you've tried that before you may have found it doesn't work great.

I was just there! I had to buy a 10mm box wrench at an Autozone to fix something the parking lot. The wrench was way oversize, it was difficult not to dtrip the fasteners.

Never been a big fan of kits or those blow-molded plastic boxes that they come in. Kits invariably have tools that I don't want or need. Too much wasted space in those boxes. I use bags and rolls as they don't allow the tools to bang and clang on the trail and they are compact.

I bought a Craftsman kit once as the stepping off point in building a tool bag for chasing desert race vehicles. I knew that quite a few of the included tools wouldn't ever leave the house (all of the 12 pt. sockets for instance), but the kit was on sale for less than what I would pay for just the tools that I wanted.

If you're just starting out and haven't developed curmudgeonly traits like yours truly or don't have a refined feel for what tools you want and need to carry, then a kit might make more sense. But I'd still dump the blow-molded case and work out a bags and tool rolls solution. Amazonian 4x4 Supply has an amazing selection of these.
