I've been planning on getting some Copper STT's in the spring, but came across a deal in the paper that may be worth looking into. I did a search and there seems to be limited info. on Pro Comp tires.

SO, the ad states 4 new Pro Comp All Terrains 285 75 16, $450. Good deal or should I wait out for the Coopers?

Thanks

The reviews on this site of the pro-comps have not been very favorable. While I personally prefer to stick with premium branded tires (Ala BFG A/T, Bridgestone Revo A/T), I have not heard of any problems with the Coopers and the people that have them say they are happy with them.

IMO do not get the Pro Comps. I had a set and they had multiple issues. If you're looking AT's I'd stick with BFG or Yoko's

Forgot about the Yoko's. The new A/T-S are $125 a piece from Tire rack and should be a very good tire for A/T use. The only place I could see them not being great is snow/ice as they lack good siping. This seems confirmed by one of the three reviews on Tire rack:

2003 Toyota Tundra SR5 4wd More Tire Reviews for This Vehicle
Miles driven on tires: 5,000

Mostly On Road
Driving Style: Average

My last set of tires were Bridgestone Revos and they were great tires except for tire wear. The A/T-S are good in all respects except for packed snow. They are horrible in packed snow. My truck has a topper and an 80 lbs. dog box and 50 lbs. of other stuff in the bed so its not a question of weight over the rear axle. 4wd is a must with these tires in snow (they drive great with 4wd). The tires ride a little rough, too, but are more quiet than the Revos.

I've heard/read some negative comments on Pro-Comp tires. Check-out some of the reviews, user feedback, and impartial testers. I've always been leary of Pro Comp equip.. You seem to have found the tire that you want, Cooper SST's. Since that is the tire that you desire, don't be swayed by the potential of saving a few bucks. You'll regret it.

I have the Pro Comp Extreme A/T 315/75/16 and I have not had any problems with them at all...on road or off. They've been a solid tire so far and still have the nipples after ~10k miles

Let me know at about 18k how they are doing. Mine were great until about then. A lot of issues that were supposedly "suspension related" HA! I showed paperwork, then it became rotation unitl the shop realized they were doing that...long story short...replaced with 4 BFG's :D :D :D :D

I've got over 30k on mine with out any issues, but my suspension is set up right.

I consider the ProComp AT to be an excellent tire, but probably about the most expensive ones you can find. For the first 10,000 they are the stickiest tires I have run in snow, wet roads and dry trail conditions including sand. From 10,000-15,000 miles they are okay. Around 18,000 or so they get very hard and are very good on dry road, okay in wet road and a nightmare in snow.

While I would not say don't buy them, if it were me I would plan to sell them at about 18,000 miles for what ever you can get for them. For what it's worth at 26,000 miles I'm showing about 7/32 per tire. They also seem pretty prone to cupping, but I'm not sure how much of that was from worn suspension components that were replaced about 15,000 miles into the life of the tires.

I would not hesitate to buy them again, but the price would have to be right and I would sell them at 15,000 miles or so. The reason for this is the new traction of the tires is simply awesome.
