nice clean cruiser congrats.... now the mods begin.......

X2 on the Napa Gold. I'll start looking for that manual now.

Matt since you are making your bumpers, I thought I would pull these images out for you. This was a one off done by a 'Mud member (Great Lakes Water jet if memory serves me correctly) and I have always liked it.

That's a beefy looking bumper for sure! When I get some time I'm going to take the stock one off and take a look. I get my best ideas just sitting and staring at the truck (as funny as that sounds.)

And that last picture is hilarious! Haha

Thanks Jereme

Damn, that is a burly looking bumper. I always liked the short bus from Slee, but I had to keep with tradition and slap an ARB on mine. I have had a ARB on every cruiser I have owned so...

I do like the beadlocks, nice logos cut into them.

Took the tires off to mount the BFG AT's today. The brakes look great and have plenty of life left in them!

Here's a small pic of the oil leak up front. It doesn't look like a front main since the residue starts below the crank. Could be coming from the sensor? I'm going to pressure wash the bottom of the engine today so I can see where its coming from.

The front leak could be coming from the arch pan seal area. I'd suggest boning up on the FAQ section in the 80 series as it talks about how to go about fixing it.

Thanks Ali. Hopefully its not that... seems like a big job to tackle from your thread on the FAQ page. I washed it all off, so we'll see where its coming from in the next day or so.

oh, and I wish i took your advise from last years Verdi snow trip sooner... "I had a Rover... it will only be a matter of time until you sell it and buy a cruiser..." :hillbilly: better late than never!

I know how you feel. I never saw the guy(s) that bought my Jeep or 4runner driving them, but the guy that bought my LX has posted several trips, wierd.

Jack

its really weird seeing someone else drive my Land Rover...

Post pictures of your Land Rover. - Page 137 - Expedition Portal Forum

Totally know how you feel on that!
When I sold the Blotch rig and seeing it drive away...Only then did it hit me what that rig meant to me. No ONE when I owned it, had ever driven it. Like you, a LOT of time, money, love and pride went in to building it. It was my first rig and was what I learned to wheel in, weld on and wrench on.

On to bigger and DIFFERENT things....Cant say BETTER YET!;)

BTW...seems like it went to a good home and with someone who will appreciate it. I was fortunate enough to have the same situation with my 62. I was gonna part her out...I just COULD NOT do that to her. She didnt deserve a fate like that.

I knew from the start that I wasnt going to sell local no matter what. Im just glad its in a different state....

Not sure if you got my text earlier (i have verizon) but I called Performance Radiator this morning. They have the Copper/brass rad. for 273 or I could order the Al./plastic rad. for the same price. The lady on the phone said the Al/plastic cools better, but the copper/brass can be repaired if need be (like we talked about yesterday.)

I'm wondering which one to go with? The copper brass might be nice for future service/repairs...

On a side note, all the funky wood trim is gone! Clean as a whistle!

The guy who bought it has other Rovers, so it did go to a good home. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't going to go to some teenage idiot that would destroy it or neglect it. My brother sold his ford truck to a kid and it was totaled within a few months.

What method did you use for the removal? Glad to hear it is all gone, that wood really dates the interior in my opinion.

I took my moms old hair dryer and used it on the low heat setting to warm up the trim, then slowly peeled it off. I got most of the adhesive off, but had a bit of work to do with the rubbing alcohol. It's all off now, and my fingers feel like they do after a weeks worth of metal fab! That stuff is on there GOOD!

the PO used glue (think super glue) in a few spots where it was lifting, and I dont know how i'm going to get that off...

waiting to hear back on the radiator, i had them order the Al. one. I also ordered the 6 allen fill plugs, HD inner axle seals, and speedo gear this morning. Once the plugs arrive i'm going to change the fluids so I can go scouting in the next week or two, then after that I can tackle the rest of the axle maintenance.

So far on the PM list i have done.
oil change
Slee speedo gear in the t-case
Purchased AL/Plastic radiator from Performance Radiator in Sparks.
changed out the front/rear/ and t-case gear lube along with Marlin Crawler allen head drain plugs. I also bought the HD inner axles seals while I was at it.

The rear diff had some (a couple) small chips on the magnet. They were about 2mm in size. Not sure if thats normal considering the front diff and t-case had the usual small filing size pieces. All the fluids looked good, and the front was still a transparent brown-ish color, so I'd say the inner axle seals are keeping the swivel grease where it belongs. I used Shells Spirax HD 80w90 since it was the only GL-5 hypoid gear oil i could find.

Today I ordered a bunch of stuff from Onur at American Toyota...
All the Radiator hoses
T-stat w/gasket
Fan Clutch
AC idler pulley and the other pulley that sits below the Alt.
PCV Hoses, grommet, and valve.
Spark plugs, and wires.
CDL switch

and i think thats it...:hillbilly:

Since the gear oil in the front looked good, i'm not going to tear into the front axle yet. Onur said the front end knuckle kit would be another 3-400. I'm going to save that for the fall/winter project (or atleast after I go on my archery hunts).

Matt

oh, and I pm'd Woody. He said that is been a long standing policy that usernames can not be changed...

Looks like no DiscoveredLC for me.

Huh? Just start a new username and you're good to go. Seriously, don't you want to put the DiscoveryXD behind you anyway? :D It's not like you have 12,545 postings under your current username.

What area is your tag? I'll be in the Rubies Aug 1 again.
