Hey guys! I've been lurking here for a while and finally tracked down a GX I'm really interested in. I'd like to get your thoughts on this, if possible.
The Lexus dealership has an 07 GX 470 w/ 90K on the clock, ML, Nav, etc - No KDSS, though. This is a one owner car that was owned by a VERY petite lady & garage kept. No scuffs or anything anywhere, inside or out. They said I could get it for $20,950 ($22,533 out the door), and this includes front & rear brakes & the 90K service that needs to be done. I could opt to do the work (90k service, brakes, etc) and get it for $18,950 ($20,405 OTD). I have done timing belts at my dad's shop, takes a while but doable. I did notice a clunk when going from reverse into D, so that is a bit of an annoyance. Salesman said he'd talk to the shop about it. It's white, which is my preferred color, being in Texas.

Other options are a black 08 GX with 60K for $28.6K ($31K OTD) at another dealership. I tried going back and forth on the price, but they won't budge.
There is also a silver 08 with 53K on the clock for $27.7k, but its about 90 min away, so I haven't looked at it.
My buddy's dad works at one of the Lexus dealerships up in Dallas, and he said he could get me into a black 05 GX with 120K for $18K OTD. And the 90K service has been done.

Any thoughts on how y'all think I should proceed?

Cheers!

That white one sounds nice and is very a fair deal, esp if you throw in the 90k service + brakes. Hopefully prior services are documented as well? (although they're not as critical as the 90k) I paid slightly more OTD for my white GX over a year ago with 76k mi on the clock + new windshield, and all services done at the local Lexus dealer; sounds like condition is about the same as well.

The clunk is common, it's the rear driveshaft, Lexus has a TSB on it. Might not hurt to ask them to replace it with a new one - however, I've just been greasing mine at every oil change and it's almost imperceptible now.

Much obliged, Joe!
I'm gonna follow up with the guy tomorrow and find out more about the service history and whatnot.
Cheers!

If you have the VIN, you can look up dealer service history on the Lexus website.

It's probably higher mileage than you want, but there's an 05 GX470 Sport (KDSS/nav) with ~164k in Phoenix for $14k that just recently went up for sale.

Brakes are easy and cheap- I think I was $200ish in parts all around. I haven't done a timing belt on a 2uz yet, though.

Seems like a fair price. As a point of reference, in January I picked up a single-owner silver 07 GX470 with no nav, no KDSS, no ML with 41k miles, full service history at Lexus of Tulsa which was the original seller and the place I got it. They also did the 90k service as a precaution as they noticed a little seeping from the water pump. Like a new car for $24,950.

So I pulled the trigger on the 07!
And they are doing the 90k service, front/rear brakes, TSB on the driveshaft, updating the nav to the recent one, and replacing the cabin air filter.
$22k OTD. I didn't haggle much on the price, and I got all the things taken care of that I wanted.

That's a great deal Smitty512, congratulations and enjoy it!

Welcome to the cool kids club! :)

You aint cool unless you got a GX!

I'd buy that all day long. Have them service it (warranty on service with Lexus) and consider yourself stoked on a $55k truck with another 160k miles ahead of it, easy. If you pass, send me the dealer info please. :)
