View attachment 341828For those interested in 3" exhaust options..here a some "food for thought" pics of my system. I fabbed up my own merge collector from some 2" mandrel bends, and a 3" to 2.5" collector cone. I also utillized a ebay 3" bullit style "race cat". From there I plummed it into a stainless- 3" ATR pitbull; then 3" dump right before the passenger rear tire. Its all held up by a small heim joint and tab.

I had run it this way for a while, though it was way too loud. The ATR is hardly a muffler and is more of a turbo application silencer. It was a left over from a built talon i owned for a while.

My solution to the noise was a 5" suppertrap disk muffler, with 18 disks total. It is perfect, and the tunability of the suppertrap is very noticable as it came with only 12 disks, as ordered. It really picked up everwhere, and torque increase is very noticeable on my butt dyno. 18 disks feels just about right, as 12 was too restrictive, and would limit rev ability. 3" open without the suppertrap would freely rev to the limiter, but was down on torque compared to its current config.

All in all, im very pleased. It doesnt really hang me up on anything, and looks, and sounds the ****. I grew up heavily involved in desert racing ,so i definately have a soft spot for the look. enjoy

Nice, I've been thinking of doing something like that... The 3FE exhaust is on the driver's side, though, so I'm kinda worried about fumes and stuff...

So was I really. Thats why I went with a cat...which I typically never use in a performance build. I live in rural AZ, and athorities and i really dont care about emmissions out here. I figure if it's tuned, which my rides always are, it isnt polluting, under my type of driving, anymore than a stock exhaust; with a catalyst, would produce.

I must report that i dont smell like a muffler at the end of a day, in the dirt. I dont get fumigated at all. Its a first for me!

Do you happen to have the part numbers for the Supertrapp and extra discs? I did a 3" exhaust on my truck. First I had a Magnaflow turbo on it and it was way way way too loud. I have a Stainlessworks on it now, and it's -tolerable- but not exactly stealthy. I'm also wanting to add a bit more back pressure on the system and this sounds about right.

It may look a bit goofy to have a 5" trap hanging out the rear bumper, but I like the concept of adding a bit of back pressure and dropping the exhaust tone just a notch or two. 18 discs then.

Looking at the Supertrapp site is... a bit confusing.
SuperTrapp: Performance Exhaust

Is the center picture the 'disc only' and the one on the right the combination of 'disc only' and 'adapter only'?

Thanks!

yeah i suppose i could get some sound files together...

as far as the pn...544-3003 if i remember correctly. 5" disks-3" inlet. it does wonders for noise. 20-30db quite possibly.

replacement disks are-504-6506. 6pk

summit racing is about the cheapest. pegasis(sp?) racing was the only distributor in the country at the time that still had them. summit's backorder was until 7/31 est.

No more hardcore wheeling for me. Im going more highspeed desert bomber this time around. The mohave desert is at my front door literally. Im attempting to trade my 05' Banshee for some nice 2.5-3.0 shocks/ coilovers as i post this. We'll see how it goes.
