Wanted Pre-78 FJ40

I have finally decided to pull the trigger. I am in no hurry but want to start looking for the right one. I will try to be as specific as possible. I am willing to spend up to 10K on this adventure.

Looking for a pre-78 with F or 2F engine. Minimal rust is a must as I don't do body work yet. Mechanicals will determine price. I can usually fix anything mechanical or electrical.

Needs to be within a four hour drive of Charlotte NC for me to look at. Otherwise it needs to be looked at by a reputable 40 mechanic with some kind of report. I am willing to travel for this. PM me with details and I will provide my email for subsequent photos if interested. Thanks!

Do you mean 78 or earlier? Curious why you would omit 78 since its nearly identical to 77.

Craigslist and eBay best sources I think but you gotta be creative with your search.
Ex... Toyota fj40 Fj 40 .....
Some listing don't show up if done otherwise.
Ex.. Toyota land cruiser Landcruiser
Same out come
I guess just experiment with your search results. There are several nice cruisers out there right now in your price range you will have one before Christmas.

I am looking for something without electric ignition. My research showed that they started with electric ignition systems in 76 but you could bypass it if you needed to. In 78 they went to full electric ignition. Is this true?? Thanks
