Is there anyone in the Southeast US that has done this and would be interested in being hired to do one for me? My daughter has a 2002 and I would love to get her Apple Car play. Yes, I am sure I could do this, but it will never happen and if I started, it might never get finished. Just reality and knowing my limits. Thanks for any help. Mark

What t
Yes, I used a terminal extraction tool to release the pins from the old connectors. These connectors also have a lock mechanism which needs to be opened to allow the pins to be removed/inserted.

Here's a pic from from the original connectors G and F with the lock in the open position:

New connectors come with the lock in the open position.
Where did you get the terminal release tool? Would you happen to have a link. I bought a generic one from Amazon that isn’t working. Seems to be too big. I have opened the lock mechanism and am not having any luck. Thanks!

I have one of these cheap assortments of different shaped extraction tools laying around. I tried a few different tools in the set until I found ones that worked:
Terminal Pin Removal Tool Kit 82 Pcs

The official TE tools are too expensive but you can get an idea of what it's supposed to look like and how it works:
755430-2 for the 070 series pins
755430-1 for the 040 series pins

Looks nice! What double din stereo did you use? Does it have Blue Tooth Apple Play or plug in or neither?

Cheers

Im mid conversion having some issues. Got everything wired up, the ac is not acting right. It blows from the dash and feet in every setting. It will not change to any other setting. It will not switch to heat. Any thoughts?

Hey guys, has anyone else had issues regarding heated mirror/rear defrost?

It snowed here in Colorado recently and I figured out both of those defrosts don't work at all even though last year before I did the nav delete they both worked fine.
Where should I start checking to diagnose the problem? I already tried using a separate land cruiser dash I had laying around and still the same issue. Buttons do light up on both like they should be working but neither heat up at all.

10-1-2022 edit: I relinked some deprecated pics and I'm self-hosting the spreadsheet.

Here is the link to my spreadsheet in PDF and XLSX formats.
Another update: print your own radio bezel. I modeled it in CAD and it's a free download.

Thanks to redjet for his original spreadsheet which mine is based off of. I mapped all pertinent pins for anyone to easily follow. My vehicle is a 2001 LX470 with Mark Levinson audio (North American LHD model specifically).

The relevant connectors are at the back of the AC Amplifier and the orange plug at the AC/Nav fascia. You will label the matching plugs on your harness I, H, F, G, and E. (I didn't order them that way, that's how the Toyota wiring diagram identifies them.) Also note the 20-pin connector at the audio control unit, it's a perfect match for the Metra 70-8113 harness.

Photo below courtesy of redjet. Label the plugs that go into the corresponding connectors on the new non-nav AC fascia A thru D

This is skipping to the end-goal, but this is a picture of the double-DIN radio bezel you can download and print.

Awesome! Basically the same thing I did in an GX470. The frustration at how easy (it would have been with a simple harness) and tedious it was "motivated" me to buy my 06 non-nav Mexican import 100-series the second I saw it.

Check the pinout terminal for the defrost. It should be labeled
I checked some of the posts and the pinout sheet I used for the whole thing and none of them are labeled defrost. Is there an updated sheet I should be looking for im lost.
Thank you.

Take a look at this photo from the FSM, it shows the pin out and the circuit. Have you checked the fuse? Looks like the output is A1 where I5 was connected, shows to be a red wire. Good luck!

This fixed my problem. I didn't have a wire coming off A1 so I had to find a spare pin from one of the other connectors and after hooking that up to the red I5 wire everything works good.

Thank you!

That is great. How did it work last year without it being hooked up?
It worked fine when I had the Nav wiring the car came with but the pigtails I got to do the conversion just never had a A1 pin i guess. I did the work this last summer so I never had a chance to find out they didn't work until now.

This headunit fit only for navigation bezel, just plug and play without manipulating wire harness. It has Apple CarPlay & Android Auto

This will not work for American specs, only for Middle Eastern specs. American specs has touch screen for AC controls while MidEast has manual knobs for AC. The American specs will first need to be converted to Manual AC Knobs like MidEast, which is the point of this whole thread 😅

On the 2002's the climate controls are not on the touch screen like the later 100's. However, they do have climate controls on the top of the screen & dash pod. It looks they have included the climate controls within this unit and moved them to the bottom. Would love to know if this unit actually works.

Do you have this unit?
Unfortunately, I don't have this unit because I have what you guys want to do which is non-nav bezel. I wish I had nav bezel to buy it.
BTW, I asked the seller if it's compatible with me if I buy nav bezel.

Not true, I am in Middle East and I see many LX's from 2000 till 2002 have nav bezel like what you have in American spec and there is someone from KSA buy it and give feedback about it.
