Needed to fix the seat adjustment gear for the front drivers seat for awhile now. it wouldn't slide back and only went forward a 1\4 inch then went crooked and stoped moving. i noticed the end cap was missing and i could see the metal rod spin out of the end of the front seat slide housing. So i turn to this amazing forum and found this thread front seat gear swap (Broken Seat/Missing Cap Issue, pt. 2) great directions and pictures. I ordered the part from him and took me about an hour and a half. here are some of my photos from the replacement.

This is where the screw was missing and you can see the metal rod in the center.

I marked both front seat horizontal jack screws so i could line it up correctly for the reinstall.

Glad to hear this seems simple. I have 4 of them to do and it's closing in on being at the top of the list soon.

lol yeah i put it off because i was a little nervous about trashing the whole seat motor but it went really smooth. took my time and did it step by step. Good luck

This seems to be the most recent thread regarding this issue, so I will tack on here.

I recently just did this change, without any knowledge of Nakman and his involvement with Gamiviti or Ih8mud for that matter. I did come across the Gamiviti site where you can purchase these gears, but being the penny pincher I am, $40 for 2 gears was still a little steep for me. That with the added risk others had of stripping their first set on the 1st attempt at installation could potentially put me at $80 for a fix that was not all that important. So I took the stock mangled gear and recreated it to the best of my measurements in 3D CAD software (Autodesk -Inventor if your curious). I chose one of the dozens of Online 3D printers where you send the file (.stl format) and get your parts. I was able to get 4 gears for just over $20. The actual price per piece was only a couple bucks, and the shipping was the most $. So you could get additional gears for minimal cost increase. Also I received a code to share with others for $10 off their first purchase. I put the gears in, and initial testing and operation seems promising. This method offers the ability to try different materials now available by modern 3D printing. I went with a fiberglass infused nylon suggested for gears by the vendor. You could go with a metal as well, but this would require updating of the 3D file to include the intrior teeth, as the heat up press fit/melt method would not work obviously. Which I would happily do for any guinea pigs wanting to give me the measurements (don’t feel like taking mine back apart)

I would love to share this info to help others, but here is the caveat. When searching for people with this issue and excitingly getting ready to post my first contribution, I came across Nakman and his post with the complete excellently detailed write up of this swap and link to HIS gamiviti website and ability to purchase the same gears I bypassed earlier (seat parts). Turns out Nakman is a veteran member, Vendor, and extremely knowledgeable and helpful guy (which all of you already know I am sure) who also happens to live in the same city as me. So I feel it would be a very d*ck move of me to potentially take business away from him.

On the other hand, I don’t think these little plastic gears are the pinnacle of his business, so if anyone (particularly experienced members) have an opinion on the matter whether I should post the 3D files and discount link or just shut my yap and let the professional tend to his hard earned followers, I would be happy to oblige. I am only out to try and help and offer the cheapest solution possible to common issues among us. I am not in the business of causing trouble. Thanks All!

[EDIT]
so i have noticed an uptick in members contacting me for the 3D file. Just an FYI, the forum does not seem to allow this file type to be uploaded. So, if you would like the file just message me with your email so that i may send the file. Also, if anyone who does get it and have success, perhaps post your feedback here or elsewhere, especially if you try different materials, I would be interested to know how it turns out. Thanks!

Thanks for the files Jchoop and AUguy.

Jchoop sent me the gear and AUguy shared his drawing of the end cap. I was able to print both on my ender3 printer in AmideX (30% Glass filled PA5).

Had to do some light sanding in between the teeth of the gears due to stringing but that was just because the retract settings needed to be adjusted a bit. They were good enough though.

Both my drivers and passenger seat work now! Awesome easy fix. Even if they fail again I can print out another set and try different materials to improve the longevity.

Hi does the 94 with manual seats have the same wiring harness for automatic seats? I see wiring plugs on the floor. Driver side has 2 plugs out of the 3 plugs do not connect to anything. They are black one has 3 wires and the other has 2 wires. On the passenger side I found a black plug for 2 wires. Need some direction. Thank you.

I am not sure on the 94. I had a 92 previously, but never had issues with the seats so never stuck my head down there

PSA: Make sure you get the plug. Otherwise it will only go forward...wish I would have seen the many forums on this particular issue before I went forward with only snagging the gear.

Anyways, lesson learned, and hopefully none of you make my bone headed mistake. But hey, at least the seat will move forward for now lol
Now to purchase the cap....

I performed this fix before finding this thread. I arrived at it the good old fashioned long way after trying to fit 4runner parts into the landcruiser and decided that I would just make my own gear. misumi and sdp/si didn't have suitable gearstock so i ended up measuring, drawing, and printing up my own. Please see the following link for the download. I used a stock prusa printer 0.4mm nozzle, with stock prusament petg settings.

hopefully this makes the process easier for y'all. I'm glad to now have a working driver's seat again.

hi
the chinese make a brass wheel.
Fits perfectly.
Can you please post the file for the end cap? i have a 3D printer, and i can print my cap myself.
Thanks

I would add this bracket on the end to keep the end cap from coming out and stripping the gear again.

That end cap is awesome, what a great idea!! Ordering one now, as I'm getting ready to fix yet another set of these seats on the new-to-me 97

I prefer the gears and end caps from Gamiviti, support the community, not chinese sellers:

It's an easy fix:

Hey jchoop, that same problem just popped up for me. I would appreciate those stl files for the cap and gear for my beloved 94'. Please and thank you if you are still able. Cheers

Hey @toyfj62 , see the attached file. Unfortunately, I only have the gear. However, I think someone else (possibly on a different thread) has posted a Cap file.
