Maybe not wheeling damage per se, but stopping 37s is work.

Go figure, brakes work better with pads? And I thought a wheel bearing might have been going. LOL To be fair, all parts performed, and any harm was my doing only.

I wouldn't call this wheeling necessarily, but it's definitely off-road. I decided to take a dirt road on the way to work in a rainstorm last week. Ilost control of the car and slid into a high banked ditch.

Being late to work and short on coffee while 45° in a rainstorm don't lead to good self-recovery decisions and instead of using all the tools at my disposal, I just tried sending it. Damaged my driver side quarter panel and front fender and scratched the snot out of the rest of the car.

A nice neighbor pulled me out with his tractor and I've been daily driving it after cleaning is much damage as possible.

love your wheels btw, what is their spec and tires? looks OEM?
its expensive but its ok, you got a story to show and tell. make lemonade. That mud seems like a difficult one to self crawl out off.

Took a few good hits on LCA at Windrock, TN. Bent the @turbo8 LCA brace and arm. Truck drives fine but I will replace LCA soon, hoping for another good Toyota parts sale.

FWIW - if you have a welder or a friend, reinforcing the LCA is pretty easy and cheap. Adding a bit of steel channel for a few dollars will be a lot stronger than the clamp on brace and you'll be good to go. Something like 1.5 x .75 channel

Nice!

I've thought of similar and bought some bent plate for this purpose. That project has been back burnered for years, BUT having just done a front end refresh (driven by rotten bushes and blown ball joints, etc.), I'll get on this for a rear control arms refresh now.

Here's the plate I have (but can't remember where I got it or how I spec'd it... Onlinemetals.com?)

I found a hole the wrong way when trying to avoid the Texas wheelchair (SxS) on the Gemini bridges trail of all places:

A little heat gun and re-attaching the fender liner should get it all straight again.

Ouch! Texas Wheelchair - that's good. I'd like to see the repaired product! I haven't looked too closely at fixing mine yet, but I would like to avoid paying for the lower piece if I can.

Relocated a screw and a light application of heat gun and it’s mostly back in line. The scratches need to be washed out and maybe sanded. We’ll see.

Nicely done!

Not really dramatic, but I am glad I had sliders this past weekend at Big Bend. At least one hit was substantial enough to be heard and cause some scratching.

Crunched the doors and rear quarter up in Moab the other day. Funny thing is I did similar damage to the drivers rear quarter on the same rock 4 years ago. I had this plan of getting revenge by getting past the rock. It had other plans.

Then later on while locked up I sent it a tiny bit too hard and snapped the jack shaft. Me and my buddy were confused for a bit when pulling cv’s only to find they were perfect. Cruiser outfitters saved the day and got me a new one that night. The housing came out of Monica their race truck so my lx is now faster because it has race car parts. That’s what I’m telling myself atleast.

Oh man that sucks. Heater hose T or somewhere else? What’s your mileage? Did you have enough duct tape and extra coolant or water to get back down?
Actually it was just a puddle of standing water I happened to have parked over. But it does help to plan on these as “what if” scenarios. Would duct tape or gorilla tape help? That idiotic (IMO) radiator stop leak? Extra spares for the coolant hoses? Thermostat? I have always given thought to emergency repairs when I go off road, but have never really needed anything, thanks to the reliability of my current LX, my previous LX 450, and my LC 80 series. In over fifteen years of ownership between the three cruisers, only had two flat tires and one stuck thermostat. Ex wife did total one with all kids in it, but that’s a whole other story.
