First trip with the RWs and already scratched them up. Guess that's what they're meant for

Doesn't look too bad from here. I'd probably leave it be, or maybe try some polish or compound to minimize it.

I bought a 2nd set of RW's from another Mudder. Some of the chrome rings are dinged up. I've only had time to rehab one of them, but there is some sort of clear coat on there to sand through before you get to the scratches. I had enough dings that I ended up sanding the clear coat off the whole thing and then sanding to get the scratches out. I've worked through a series of finer grits to eliminate the scratches from the rougher grits. So far I have gotten it to a nice satin look (1000 grit, IIRC). Not sure if I'll go higher and/or use polishing compounds to get it really shiny like stock. Probably depends on how much time I get. Regardless of how far I go, I'll probably hit it with a couple of coats of rattle can clear.

A couple spots took out chunks. But that's what's going to happen with wheeling. So I'm not going to waste my time trying to fix it when they are going to get banged up next trip

TL : DR...I can't drive and I jackknifed our trailer.

We were camping in the Guadalupe National Forest just south of the TX/NM border. The point of staying there was that it was close to the Carlsbad Caverns which we wanted to visit. Well, our last day at the camp site, there was nonstop rain. The rain continued all night and into the next day. If anyone knows the high desert, water doesn't absorb into the ground. So, water does what water does, and that was let gravity take it away.

So, as we packed up our trailer in the downpour and start to make the 54 mile trek to the highway, we feared flash floods would be ahead. There was evidence of earth movement all over the road where a few inches of mud covered the entire lane. We saw this a lot, which controlled our speed as well. Well, as we were nearly done with the long drive, a lady flies past and waves us to stop. So, I pump the brakes, stop and put it in reverse. I was paying attention to her and my left side. I had straightened the trailer out before reversing. Well, The trailer hit the thick mud and veered to the right. I didn't see it, again because I was focused on the left side and bam.

My mind was on the flash flood and what could all be wrong. Well, that is what insurance is for and we didn't sweat it (much) after that. Finishing the trip with Bandelier National Monument and Santa Fe NF. By the way, she was turned away by the Fire Department because of the flash flood a mile up the road. She didn't want anyone else to get caught in it. Well, we pushed forward and low and behold we made it out.

Good times were had.
what the lady waves you for ???

Snapped the passenger side sway bar link. Took the drivers side off and tied the sway bar out of the way for the drive home. Drove pretty well with no sway bar. Just glad I didnt have to make any sudden turns or hard breaking

While turning around on a narrow steep icy trail, the front slid just a few inches into a tree. Already bought and installed a used headlight assembly off eBay for $150. Bumper buffed clean. I was lucky it just tagged the light.

That is tree bark inside the light.

Confusing. No obvious impact marks, and the case looks like it may have been open and resealed with liquid gasket. There is evidence of brittle fracturing and the two ears are sheared off in the top picture and the axle broke clean. So maybe a locked center diff and a shock load with one tire spinning and then hooking up caused the axle to load through the joint to the case?

Was straddling that bog hole and slipped in....threw it into reverse in low range with centre diff lock, made it about 1.5 car length back, enough for me to think woohoo I'll make it out....and then BANG, then the fun began. Mechanic thinks the chain snapped (Earlier pic shows part of the chain)
