Dumb question but should my VSC automatically turn off on my 2000 LX when i go into 4lo and lock the center diff?
If my VSC off light isnt coming on could there be a problem or maybe the light is burned out?

I don't recall exactly if 2000MY turned VCS off when going into 4-Lo. On my '05, it's only when I turn on the CDL. I believe that at least the 99MY trucks turned it off in 4-Lo.

It is possible the light is burned out, but probably unlikely as it's probably never really even turned on. In my truck, I never saw a CDL or VCS light when locking the CDL in 4-Lo until I high centered once. After a minute or two of trying to get free, my lights started working. They're pretty reliable now but every now and then I'll have an instance where I can hear the relay engaging behind the glove box but the lights won't come on the dash. Usually backing up or rolling forward a few feet will trigger them.

Actually your temperature shouldn't have been affected with the timing belt continuing to spin the water pump. Steering at low speed would have taken a little more effort

Good point. I don't believe that ran through our heads at the time.

I think it's on it's original timing belt!!!

11k miles since March...With a working "D" light. I am actually surprised by the mileage since I had 3 trips cancelled during that time frame.

Correct me if I’m wrong ,I’m sure it’s been discussed... Yet a 2007 Tundra that went 1 million miles was the 4.7 v8. Is that or is that not the same engine we all have in these 100 series?!?! Not sure if those Early 4.7 Tundra engines got Produced in Japan Tho the 100s certainly are.

I remember that million miler but in looking for the info again I found this video on a second 4.7l truck to hit a million. I like how he openly talks about exceeding payload and towing capacities, by a lot it sounds like, while we non professionals agonize over approaching 80% of manufacturer limits.

Kabanstva, I did not know that either untill I was looking about a Tundra For a Possible second vehicle (Disregard). If you look into the details of the “Million mike Tundra” I believe it is the 4.7 and pretty awesome to hit that.
I read the article years ago, Mr T. Ended up taking apart the truck and...engine to tidy up there engineering (as if it needed it).
So next time you ponder if your 100 Land Cruiser will keep going, keep in mind It’s the same Engine, yet assembly is in Japan. Not sure about Tundras early 4.7 engine origin of build tho.... Anyone,Anyone? Bueller?

I’m considering a Tundra for my dad at some point and to be honest, until recently I thought they all had the 5.7 motor since 2007+. Was shocked to see the 4.6 was an option as well as the 4.7 on the older models.

Another thing that’s surprising is that a lot of 200 Series overseas have the 4.7 motor which I know was definitely not an option in the US.

Ps- I’m certainly not talking trash of Indiana assembly of a Tundra. However I’m pretty sure a Japanese Assembly Is probably identical if not a Nats eye lash better of tolerance. Now if it can be found weather the early 4.7 Gen 2 Tundra engine was foreign or domestic assembled.
