It happens (more often than not) that dealers don't bother about service that takes time AND gives them less income on parts. Check/repack front wheel bearings and spindle bearings. Lube the F & R drive shafts (prop.shaft) every 2.5 to 3 k miles. Check that auto-box oil has been changed.

Will be taking a look at a 2007 LX470 for sale with 242,000 miles this week. Has been serviced between two Lexus dealerships since new (service intervals between 2k to 8k miles). East Cost truck claims to be rust-free underneath...we'll see.

Will take a look at the AHC condition (fluid drop between low and high setting). Anything else I should try to examine in-person before buying? Not talking about the normal due diligence stuff...but 100 series specific items near a quarter million miles. sounds like starters tend to go around then?

moving from a 40 series as a DD to a 100 series. I understand there are a couple differences between the two.

Just picked up a 2003 hundy, 216000k miles on it. It was outside SanDiego in the desert all its life til I found it and brought it to SW Virginia.

Drove from KY to NYC over Thanksgiving week, approximately 1500 miles with no problem. Stopped by the side of the road somewhere in WV to snap a picture of the odometer.

Nobody has beat you....on this page. You mean on mileage? If so there are numerous LC100's in this very thread with a lot higher mileage than 238k. I know this because while researching to by my LC100 a few months back, this was the very first thread I read on mud. As good as mine is running now, I bet 600k should be possible (249k now). I love this truck.

We've seen ~450k with minimal documentation. Personally I believe more than one million miles and 50 years, is possible in a properly maintained rust free 100 series. Toyota has already made a big press splash, when one Toyota owner with the 2UZ-fe engine (IDR which model) hit 1,000,000 in 5 years.

1 million miles! Nice. Do you have links to this, I would love to know more about this.

Correct me if I'm wrong and I'll delete or correct post. This is the 2UZ-fe 4.7 VVti, with timing BELT and same drivetrain as 06-07 100 series. He said one water pump and two timing chains, wrong IMHO.
Million-mile Toyota Tundra owner given brand new truck in this link it states timing belt.

I've worked on older high millage 100's. Average maintained, under maintained and improperly maintained. They all keep ticking, it's just different levels to restore based on how maintain. Rust on the other hand is killer IMHO.

My 99 LC100 has a label that says 313k miles timing belt service in 2012, I bought it used with a replaced odometer since it went out and the odometer says 200k now but no idea if they bought the odometer with miles already. I'm probably at close to 400k and running strong. Previous owner maintained it meticulously.

I purchased mine with 435K on it. Cureently at 436K with me.

I just couldn't pass up the deal.

It was a single business owner vehicle, no wrecks, beautiful car-fax, non smoker, no pets vehicle. Only left SC one time years ago. Always stayed in South or North Carolina. ZERO rust. I was stoked when I crawled underneath it.

Only item never replaced is the steering rack. Which I might do next year. Just had new OEM Toyota shocks replaced at 423K. Last timing belt with everything was done at 417K. Radiator, coolant and heater "Ts" as well. Even had the alternator replaced at 329K when it was turned over to his son as a sales vehicle. They even replaced the A/C compressor just to be sure as it gets hot in SC, lol....

Drivers seat reflects the mileage but this thing is solid!

I'm back, still pretty much a lurker here if that. I did want to update my post from a while back. I don't have a picture yet as I am waiting for the big moment, but the cruiser is 300 miles from hitting 400,000!

Hopefully one day I will get time to make my own build thread. I'm in Tuscaloosa and ever since the tornados here last April, my front diff started leaking pulling large trees up a steep incline by chain cleaning up.

I have since outfitted the rig with full suspension, front ARB locker, ARB Sahara front bumper with winch, wheels and Nitto 33" Terragrappler tires, full stereo, and custom drawers.

Since my post with 311,100, my original alternator went out right at 1/3 of a million miles (333,300 actually) but the battery got me home which was another 30 miles out.
I had a front wheel bearing going out, so both were replaced for the first time around 375,000. Several seals were slightly leaking, and I had a driveline vibration that was corrected after the front diff and suspension were replaced along with almost every piece of rubber other than motor mounts (not sure why I didn't replace them)

Today, I have some new leaks I'm afraid. I did see a radiator leak a couple months back but at this point in the trucks life, I don't go repairing every little thing until it is a bigger problem. I topped it off last week and I was a full gallon low of coolant so radiators are only good for 400,000 miles! No overheating though, I don't think these engines need cooling:)

A few more coil packs have gone and they seem to go in pairs. I am unsure if I have any originals anymore.

All in all, the engine and transmission are still doing fine, but I do get somewhat hard shifts if I don't ease off the throttle just before. She isn't being babied so these miles aren't due to highway only miles. Obviously most are, but I'm pulling a trailer down that highway half of the time:grinpimp:

I'll try to come back and post a 400,000 mile pic. Hope I catch it dead on the mileage. Who knows, I may even buy a radiator as a little present to her.

I will try to brief this time around...

The cruiser finally has been retired from daily driving after several small problems turned into headaches on my 120 mile per day drive, literally. Constant buzzing from stability control, finally activating the abs. Front left hub I believe, possibly just a wheel bearing again. Also the still all original transmission is slipping a bit.

The final mileage was 493,xxx and our family business sold it for $300 (TO ME!!) just to get it off the books. Three weeks ago I purchased a 2011 GX460 Premium for my commute/construction business and it is an ideal size and excellent overall vehicle, but I am already missing the 100. I will certainly miss the easy modding that comes with the 100.

I may look for a fresh engine/trans one day, in the mean time I am enjoying trying to mod the GX a bit. A bit too grocery getter as it sits.

Don't mind the dirt, it's the business we are in!
