Igot - Did you do your own bumpers? They both look very good. What colour is the 73?

a little mod I put together to assist with taking the engine off the engine stand so I could fit the bell housing, fly wheel and clutch.it worked quite well...but not having enough fun, I decided to dismantle the gearbox from donor cruiser:)

So not been on here in a while as I have been in Canada for the past year and my Cruiser is in Africa where I work. I am calling mine "The World's slowest 4x4 build" When I joined I posted pics of my rear tyre carrier build and various upgrades like dual batteries, compressor with tank, lights, stereo etc. No aftermarket parts are available locally so I have to source all my stuff in the US or OZ and have it shipped here. So my installs are a full commit and often a year after ordering parts. Upon arrival I opened my orders of OME springs etc. Here are some pics of my install of front OME856 springs... a breeze :D Front shocks are Rancho RS5159s and can now run at full range with the new lift.

and rear EL079R... a fight,

purchased from Cruiser Outfitters. Turns out on my application OME over compensated for the height increase on the EL079R springs and my drive shaft is fully stuffed at normal height. Upon drooping it binds up! I have no access to a lathe to shorten the shaft so not sure what I can do... maybe tackle it with a cut off saw and my trusty MIG. I need to loose about 1cm I believe.
But she still looks good and the 35" tires fit and have full range :D Rear shocks are Rough Country 9114s that are left over from my 89 Suburban. Almost exact match. I only had to run a drill through the urethane to open up the bore to suit the Toy mounts.
Front are 315x16 on 105 series rims and just touch at full lock but no rock climbing here in Chad... only mudding. Rears amazingly are from my old Suburban on 15" rims that I hand drilled to suit the Toy. They run true with no vibes up to at least 110km/hr.

Wrote Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters and he suggested the drive shaft my be too full of grease. Bingo! I'm guilty of over maintenance. Popped the zerk off and jacked up the rear. About a 1/4 cup of grease out and put zerk back in... now I have movement :D I kinda suspected that but thought it would just squeeze out around the splines. I am not used to the drive shaft engaging more when lifted but rather the contrary. Anyway all is good now. Thanks Kurt / Bryce

the other problem that can occur when they are over full with grease is under compression the grease can hydraulic the plug out the end of the yoke and then its open to fill up with water, mud and crap and sometimes resulting in the spline rusting and seizing up...... I could tell you how I know :)
