As the title says so I thought I would post up. May be taking the 80 on an overland trip from Tx and needing to know a few great trail runs near or around Sedona. Truck is fully built. Also if anyone could give me a few good local/area/outskirts of town places to stay that might even be off the grid, so to speak. One in town that we have looked at staying is L'Auberge. Granted that is no where near off the grid but looking for a memorable stay. Thanks in advance.

L'auberge is an great place to stay right on oak creek - very nice. Pamper factor is on the plus side

You'll have to do the classic Broken Arrow trail. We ran that last year. The scenery is simply amazing

Check out the go pro action from my windshield with the link on post #90. Nothing radical but a good idea of the scenery you're in for.

Other trails in the area would be Soldier pass road and Rattlesnake Canyon trail. Its like the tourist board came up with these names :D

I'll add to Murf's comments:

Grab a beer at Oak Creek Brewery after a long day, dinner at Elote Cafe and L' Auberge has the best bacon I've ever eaten--hahahaa. Don't forget to monitor your mood ring while in the vortex, or not, haha,

I live in Sedona and right now the weather is perfect. Broken Arrow is a must. I also like Soldiers Pass and Oak Creek Homestead since they're short scenic trails. Cucina Rustica in the VOC (Village of Oak Creek) is great for dinner or you can try Dahl and Diluca in West Sedona. Ken's Creekside has great food too. There are tons of hiking trails, Indian ruins, a couple of creeks to fish in. Lots of things to do.

Had lunch at the Airport Café there today, and if you're into light aircraft you'll see plenty of those buzzing around. There's a red Waco parked on the ramp which started Sedona Air Tours over 20 years ago and can be seen flying in and out of there on a regular basis. (http://www.sedonaairtours.com/tours/red-rock-biplane) Met the owner/pilot today and had a nice lunch, though their prices have gone up a bit as Sedona has become much more of a tourist economy. No longer consider it to be a 'greasy spoon' restaurant, anymore. Worth seeing the SEZ airport if you'll be going through there, as it's a very unique design much like an aircraft carrier deck due to the approach end:

Ate there about 10-15 years ago when we went up for the Castner Mtn Trail run. IIRC, they had a big aquarium in the middle of the restaurant back then. John

runway looks like in Telluride - drop-off on either end
